This place is disgusting, i walked in there and there were two guests in front of my both picking up takeout orders. It took her 15 minutes to swipe two credit cards, and after that the lady looked me right in the eye and didnt even acknowledge or offer to help me or the other person waiting to place takeout orders. And when we said we wanted to place a order she gave us a stink face like we were wasting her time, not a welcoming environment at all. I ordered sesame chicken with no vegetables, shrimp fried rice with no vegetables, and crab rangoon. My wife ate one bite of the chicken and almost threw up, they still put vegetables in in the rice, and it smelled like fish. And the rangoon was the worst, it was like stale wontons that had been left out for a month in the california heat and then left in a pantry at room temp for another month, they shattered like glass, my dog didnt even want any and he eats everything. When you open a business especially one that serves food, i though you were supposed to have pride in what you serve, and try to be the best you can. When your serving your ethnic food in america we would appreciate if you cook it like you would back in your home country. This place needs to re evaluate completely. Disgusting and i don’t recommend to anyone Im not even gonna give this to someone on the streets, they dont deserve something so nasty, instead im giving the next person i see whose struggling $20, and telling them not to...
Read moreI recently had a terrible experience at China Garden in Castro Valley. My wife and I ordered for pickup via DoorDash and decided to dine in instead. When we walked in, the staff informed us that we would need to pay an undisclosed service charge to eat inside, even though we had already paid more than the menu prices through DoorDash. The service charge was never mentioned on the menu or anywhere in the restaurant.
When I asked why this charge existed, the staff rudely pointed to a sign that said, "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." This had nothing to do with my question, and their dismissive attitude was disrespectful. Additionally, after we decided not to dine in, the restaurant falsely marked our order as "ready for pickup" on DoorDash, even though they confirmed they wouldn't make the order.
This violates California SB 478, which requires businesses to disclose all fees upfront, and the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act, which prohibits deceptive practices like hidden charges. China Garden's actions were both unethical and likely illegal.
If you plan to eat here, beware of hidden fees and unprofessional service. I’ve filed a complaint with consumer protection agencies. I won’t...
