There is a something I cannot get enough of lately and that is Chinese takeout! China Garden is kind of a staple in my takeout routine as of late. I generally get a fried rice, stir fried green beans, some kind of chow fun and chicken for a bit of variety. This restaurant does great to provide ample portions, and after ordering here a few times I can say that sometimes it can be hit or miss in terms of whether you get great ratios of ingredients to your food, and whether you will need to spend a bit extra time in the kitchen to heat and prepare. My go to here really is their fried rice it is a must. Also, reheats great on my wok. The staff here is pretty friendly too. If you are looking for a new takeout spot, I would definitely put this on my recommendations for you, it has all the classics!

DONT COME TO EAT HERE!! There was nothing but mosquitoes coming into our food and we had let the server know and they still had the audacity to charge my family the food that was tainted with flies. The only food I did eat made me feel so sick and I threw up after from the horrible experience and the thought of who knows what else is going into my food while they’re cooking it. They’re also charging ridiculous expensive prices to just rip you off in the end! Don’t charge extra for mediocre food because your business is struggling. I’m sorry for the honest review but I’m so upset for my sisters birthday being ruined with food poising for the whole family. They also served my boba with no lid and gave me a straw that had no plastic wrapping, SUPER unsanitary. Never coming here again!

Love the wok hei in the fish that levels up this dish with a charred aroma and enhances the Caramelization of the dish. The wonton soup was definitely no plain , very filling and flavorful with a nice variety of different ingredients that gives you more complexity for this dish . We asked for extra sauce on the tomato beef stir fried noodles which works nicely with the crunchiness of the noodles without making it seem dry . The staff was attentive and very nice ! Food didn’t take very long to arrive . We had plenty of leftovers for open because there portions was generous. Definitely recommend this place!

This place is disgusting, i walked in there and there were two guests in front of my both picking up takeout orders. It took her 15 minutes to swipe two credit cards, and after that the lady looked me right in the eye and didnt even acknowledge or offer to help me or the other person waiting to place takeout orders. And when we said we wanted to place a order she gave us a stink face like we were wasting her time, not a welcoming environment at all. I ordered sesame chicken with no vegetables, shrimp fried rice with no vegetables, and crab rangoon. My wife ate one bite of the chicken and almost threw up, they still put vegetables in in the rice, and it smelled like fish. And the rangoon was the worst, it was like stale wontons that had been left out for a month in the california heat and then left in a pantry at room temp for another month, they shattered like glass, my dog didnt even want any and he eats everything. When you open a business especially one that serves food, i though you were supposed to have pride in what you serve, and try to be the best you can. When your serving your ethnic food in america we would appreciate if you cook it like you would back in your home country. This place needs to re evaluate completely. Disgusting and i don’t recommend to anyone Im not even gonna give this to someone on the streets, they dont deserve something so nasty, instead im giving the next person i see whose struggling $20, and telling them not to...

I recently had a terrible experience at China Garden in Castro Valley. My wife and I ordered for pickup via DoorDash and decided to dine in instead. When we walked in, the staff informed us that we would need to pay an undisclosed service charge to eat inside, even though we had already paid more than the menu prices through DoorDash. The service charge was never mentioned on the menu or anywhere in the restaurant.

When I asked why this charge existed, the staff rudely pointed to a sign that said, "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone." This had nothing to do with my question, and their dismissive attitude was disrespectful. Additionally, after we decided not to dine in, the restaurant falsely marked our order as "ready for pickup" on DoorDash, even though they confirmed they wouldn't make the order.

This violates California SB 478, which requires businesses to disclose all fees upfront, and the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act, which prohibits deceptive practices like hidden charges. China Garden's actions were both unethical and likely illegal.

If you plan to eat here, beware of hidden fees and unprofessional service. I’ve filed a complaint with consumer protection agencies. I won’t...

Went into this restaurant for the first time tonight after being recommended by a few friends had the most horrible experience ever, got our food ordered lettuce wraps that comes with the plum sauce and I asked for extra while placing my order! was not told that they charge for extra sauce ok that’s cool I would have paid for it like I did to have extra Cashew as I stood there I could tell she was upset that I had asked for more then the one small side they gave me. She rolled her eyes and said here.I told her thank you and that I wouldn’t be returning to her restaurant or again she proceeded to tell me thank you bye-bye thank you so I called to speak to the manager . Where she then told that the manager was who I was speaking with asked her if she was the same individual that just help me she said yes I proceeded to tell her that that was my first time going into her restaurant and she said OK thank you I’m busy thank you I’m busy and hung up on me I will never go there again!! It’s a sad place when small business owners don’t care about losing new customers. I’d give zero stars if I could. I hope new customers take this post into account before heading...
