I look forward to returning and trying more of their delectable offerings in the future. Cowboy Bar & Grill, nestled along the scenic Highway 9 in Felton, CA, is a hidden gem that offers a delightful dining experience. I recently had the pleasure of dining at this charming establishment, and I must say, it left a lasting impression.
The first thing that struck me was the remarkable outdoor atmosphere. Surrounded by majestic redwood trees, Cowboy Bar & Grill provides a rustic and picturesque setting that is truly one of a kind. Dining in such a natural and serene environment made for a memorable start to the evening.
For starters, I couldn't resist trying their Pigs Wings tossed in ginger BBQ sauce and served with creamy Pasilla. These succulent "pig wings" were a unique and mouthwatering twist on traditional chicken wings. The ginger BBQ sauce added a delightful sweet and tangy flavor, perfectly complemented by the creamy Pasilla dip. It was a heavenly combination that set the stage for the rest of the meal.
As for the main course, I opted for the Calamity Blue salad, which was a true masterpiece. Charbroiled chicken, crispy bacon, and generous chunks of gorgonzola cheese adorned a bed of fresh greens. The flavors in this salad were a symphony of savory and creamy goodness, and the portion size was substantial, leaving me thoroughly satisfied. It was a salad that truly redefined what a salad can be.
The attentive and friendly staff at Cowboy Bar & Grill made the dining experience even more enjoyable. They were quick to take orders, and the service was impeccable. The ambiance was enhanced added a great backdrop to...
Read moreNestled below a stand of redwoods, the Cowboy Grill offers a pleasant outdoor spot to enjoy one of half dozen or so beers from area breweries. Service was friendly. "Bee" prepared to battle yellow jackets. The restaurant has placed plants and shrubs that attract pollinators throughout and around the outdoor seating area which is an added attraction to the already enticing meat forward menu. Which brings me to the food. The food was barely edible. No flavor and poorly prepared. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich expecting a place that emphasizes meat to wow. It was bland and the side of coleslaw in desperate need of seasoning. We left half the order. We also ordered the BBQ'd sparerib platter. They came out of the kitchen dry as jerky with no flavor. The kitchen threw a layer of sauce on top to cover the poor prep. The corn bread was not edible, and again, no flavor. We can say that the french fries were done well.
Parking is very limited, and the interior of the restaurant unappealing. The restroom is directly to the right of the hostess stand and the door had a sign posted, "open on Mondays", which took customers for a loop. There was a random table of assorted items for sale next to it and around the corner from there, the chairs and tables were covered in what looked like staff clothing that had been dumped prior to their shift. We love our Sunday explorations of the area and this was definitely a...
Read moreFirst time going here and I leave my car seeing a sign for the restroom. I walk towards it after driving 1/2 hr to use and wash my hands. NOPE!! Accosted by some middle aged Karen saying this is private property and questioning why I am here. She repeatedly told me I was on and in about private property, Yada yada even after I told her I was meeting friends for dinner in their restaurant. Absolutely not, you can not use it! She told me I had to use the one IN the restaurant. Then why have a GIANT sign pointing to the restroom? I then tried to use the one IN the restaurant. A single restroom, busy. I was told that was the ONLY one, and would have to wait. Never got to use the restroom the whole visit. Wedding going on next door blasting boring 80s music so loud conversing on the patio was difficult. Fish and chips, fried till almost ash inside! Horrid! Avoid these shifty people, shifty food. Terrible service having to ask 3x for a straw for my ice tea and a silverware set up. Untrained staff thst are clueless. And they wonder why locals don't want to eat...
