I would like to change my review slightly they're less related family members have taken over the business and the service is not as pleasant they are not as nice to deal with I went to them to offer them products from my farm they thought that $8 a dozen for giant Pekin duck eggs each egg equals four chicken eggs was too expensive they normally sell for anywhere from 12 to $15 it doesn't in the Bay Area my chicken egg sell for $10 a dozen in the Bay Area one of my Giant Duck carcasses would go for probably at least $40 maybe 50 and they offered me $5 for two carcasses of my 35 lb ducks I told them to nail some boards together and call it a boat put a s a i l on it and take a couple trips around the lake they were very rude in fact they were so rude that it blew my mind that I never went back there again I was just trying to be a friendly local entrepreneur trying to selling them quality organic non-GMO products I was so insulted that I've never eaten there again my other part of my review was when the original family owned it THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST CHINESE FOOD IN LAKE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA!!! They also serve Thai food too. THIS PLACE IS NOT OPEN FOR SEATED DINING AS OF YET, DUE TO THE COVID-19 PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES, SOME BUSINESSES ARE OBSERVING, TO ENFORCE HIGHLY SUGGESTED, HEALTH & SAFETY MEASURES. This business is completely run by a family & family members that live locally in the general Clearlake area. ( I am not revealing the exact location of their familial, shared home, as I am respecting the privacy that is due, d this very nice family ) This business is completely set up, DIY style, for the suggested, calling of orders ahead & driving thru for the pick up of your meals type of operation. The restaurant owners closed the seated dining experience to the publi, but modified their entire methodology of food service to the public, in order to stay in business & also because people were clamoring for their food to be served somehow again because it is so wonderful. I lived that I could order my favourite , Chow Fun, thick rice noodles in different styles of preparation. They also offer Thai coffee & Thai iced tea that is fabulous. The food is so good , I did not desire to add soy sauce or anything else to it, because the food is so good , it stands firmly on its own. The portions are suprusingly generous & a great & fabulous variety on the menu, makes one actually order more than can be eaten in one day, because you know you'll definitely want more later. Everything is very, very good & is prepared with very fresh, high quality ingredients. The people who own & also work there, are very pleasant and happy. This place is such a beloved favourite of the locals, that many actually drive, the 60 mile round trip from across the lake, just to enjoy the Happy Garden's simple & traditional menu items. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, that if you are just driving through, or staying in the area &vyou are seeking and/or craving traditional Chinese menu offerings, that are all delicious, fresh & generous, THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!! PLEASE ALWAYS TRY TO SUPPORT INDEPENDENT and/or FAMILY OWNED & RUN BUSINESSES WHENEVER POSSIBLE. REMEMBER, THAT IS HOW THE AMERICAN DREAM WAS MADE REAL & HOW THE COUNTRY WAS BUILT & WHAT MADE IT GREAT...
Read moreThis is the only way I know how to thank the restaurant and the gentleman that paid my bill. Short story...My son recently moved to California with his father. I still live in Chicago unfortunately. I got to visit my son for a week and for his 5th birthday, Oct 22nd, we went on a little adventure from his new home of Chico, California. On Friday went stayed in a cabin near the Humboldt Redwoods and we both got to see the giants together for our first time. Saturday morning for his birthday I took him to see the ocean for his first time. Since he's moved I fear I will miss out on a lot of those "first times" so I snatched these up while I could. On our way back to his home we stopped for dinner at the Happy Garden Restaurant. They allowed me to bring in some cupcakes I had gotten him so we could have a mini birthday song and treat. After dinner I went to pay for our meal and could not find my debit card anywhere. No cash. No card. I was in a panic. The owner (I'm assuming) was so patient and understanding in letting me leave the restaurant with my son to search the car. When I came back he said that the gentleman over there paid for our meal. I was still in a state of panic and now became overwhelmed with emotions. A strangers kindness, this being the last day with my son, I lost my card, would I have enough gas to make it back and catch my flight the next day? All this brought me to unstoppable tears and I left in a hurry without thanking them. I hope that the stranger and the restaurant sees this. Thank you so much. Another memory added to a very special and fulfilling trip. ~ â¤ď¸Michelle and...
