Krispy Krunchy Chicken — Restaurant in California

The Good Stuff. My family tried this place because of various food cravings. I must say the quality of the food varied wildly. The chicken, biscuits and shrimp were as good as advertised, and satisfied our cravings for those.

The mashed potatoes were your standard boxed type potatoes - neither good nor bad. We wanted to try the Potato Salad, but it did not get included in our order (we did get a refund for that.)

Now on to the bad stuff. The pizza was dry, way overbaked and about as chewy as the box it came it. You could use it to make houses (we did). The "F'Real Milkshakes" are actually false advertising. They are premade frozen smoothies with a very artificial flavor - no milk in them at all. These should be relabeled since they are fraudulently described. The Peach Cobbler - it was the greasy, gelatinous, doughy blob in a cup - completely inedible. The slice of cheesecake we were given instead of carrot cake had a thick black hair stuck...

Their $5 chicken tenders weekday lunch special hits the spot! You get 3 chicken tenders, seasoned potato wedges and a honey biscuit. The tenders are just that, tender AND delicious and the wedges are always cooked to perfection, never undercooked and hard. The biscuit rounds out the taste spectrum nicely. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because a dipping sauce doesn't come with the meal. If you want any sauces, they are an additional 0.50c each. Still, it is excellent value for a quick weekday lunch. They also have the Frazil ice drinks which you must try if you haven't already. They are available in 12oz, 20oz and 32oz; 32oz is $3.69 which to this frugal (read: cheapskate) lady is a little pricey but it's enough for 2 to share and the mango is the best mango flavor I think I've ever had! Definitely Krispy Krunchy Chicken, just not much seasonings for being Cajun. Some other reviewers of KKC have said it's salty but I didn't think so, just a bit bland. The blueberry biscuits definitely are way tastier than the bland plain honey butter biscuits, seemed very much baking powder biscuits. But one blueberry biscuit was falling apart and almost gooey in texture and the other one was overcooked or had sat too long under heat lamps and crispy almost cookie-like. I ordered the red beans and rice side. Nothing to rave about, just seemed like liquid smoke for flavoring. I must try jambalaya and mac & cheese sides next.
