Mackenzie Bar & Grill — Restaurant in California

Located inside the Pasatiempo golf course building this is a roomy, clean restaurant with a bar and good views of the golf course.

They have a small breakfast menu and all the options are inexpensive for this area, around $12. I had a mushroom cheese scramble with their home style potatoes and coffee. The scramble was fine though the flavors were mild for my taste. The potatoes were disappointing, soft inside but almost leathery on the outside, I think they had sat too long in a warmer. The coffee was not good, again I don't think it was fresh, that it had sat in a pot.

Usually love to eat brunch here. We went a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday. It was Brunch time still but my wife wanted something from the lunch menu. Even though it was only 15 mins. the Executive Chef refused to take our order. Even our waiter was in disbelief. We took our business elsewhere. We will probably go back, we do like their food, specially brunch but the service needs to be a little more proactive to make sure they don't let the "rules" affect their customer service. I've been coming here for a while now because the breakfast has been an amazing experience and I love the service and staff. Lily, our server is super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I ordered the Mack breakfast sandwich and it was in my opinion the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I have a picture of the menu below which was taken on April 5th 2025.
