Yesterday, was the first time my wife and I ate at this Resturant attending with 3 of our friends. The positives: Ease to get a reservation (day before), lower than usual corkage fees, excellent variety of food choices from meats, to chicken to fish and service by far was most excellent. Now the areas of improvement: the appetizer muscles was is oversalted. Which was not needed at all to be like that. My meal, was the lamb chops. I asked for medium rare. I got a well cooked lamb chops. The lamb chop was only about 1/2 to 2/3 of an inch thick. For price of almost $50.00, as I have experienced elsewhere, I expected a more thicker size chop (minimal 1 inch) and cooked correctly. While I didn’t address the size of the lamp chop with the Waitress, I addresses the incorrect cooking. She apologized and took it back to the kitchen. Unfortunately, there were no other lamb chops to be had so she was willing to cook something else for me, but my guest were halfway through their meal and I didn’t wanna wait. So I ate the lamp chops anyway. However, without any prodding on my part, the thoughtful waitress did take the over cooked lamp chop meal off the cash only bill and provided a free desert. Which was delicious ! My wife ordered Mary’s chicken breast dinner. Not addressing this to me until mid point through our dinner, her meal too was over cooked and dry. She never address with our waitress. Our other guests seem to enjoy throughly. their meals. Consequently, I can not recommend...

My wife and I were first timers at the Range, recently moving to SLO. We were seated immediately upon arriving by the friendly hostess. Our server was also very friendly and helpful. We started with a portion of white anchovies with a very nice sauce that went well with the anchovies. I had the French onion soup that was served hot the way soup should be. The soup was very good, maybe not the best I've ever had, but very good. For our mains, my wife had sand dabs, one of the specials, and I had elk medallions. Both dishes were prepared perfectly. Accompanying the main course were vegetables and potatoes that were bland and fairly tasteless. They have a nice wine selection of mainly local wines with a variety of prices. Overall, we had a good experience but left feeling the food was not quite...

After many years of talking about it, we finally went to The Range. We're sorry we didn't go sooner. Good size portions, and well prepared. The presentation was great. The service was excellent and staff are very attentive. We dined outside so the 'atmosphere' was ok. Nice, but nothing really special. Given the time of year we did have a lot of flys 'join us'. They decided to visit other tables when our plates were cleared. There was 7 of us, and I called ahead. I got 2 calls checking back with me to make sure we were accomodated. They were happy to make sure we could either be inside or out. Prices range based on the uniqueness of the plate. Some plates are expensive while others are more reasonable. Choose wisely. 😄 All in all, it was a great experience. It won't be years...

Best tomato bisque I’ve had! I got the tomato bisque and it came jive and hot with homemade croutons on top. This was the special of the night and it was reasonably priced. The rest of my family got the 14 ounce coffee crusted rib eye, elk steak and a salad I tried some of every ones it it was all amazing it meat dishes were pretty pricey but it was worth it. We also got the clams as our starter and those were so good! The juice/sauce they were in was soo good. We ordered dessert and that was even better I got the meyer lemon cake and it was so good it came with a slice of the cake and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. WOULD RECOMMEND GOING HERE!

Can't go wrong here... Delicious foods, great service, just bring cash! Seriously, no cards accepted, but they will take a check! How quaint. That means you have to find your checkbook. Don't forget to call for a reservation. Lovely classic country music to accompany your meal. Try one of the chef's specials, again, can't go wrong. Had some nice homemade ice cream in a homemade waffle dish... delicious! If I'm in the area, I'll come for dinner as they aren't open for lunch. Beer and wine. Go and enjoy!
