Yay! The Valley Swim Club "Valentine's Speed Swimming" event was a big hit! I went on Friday, Feb. 14th and had a blast. There looked to be about 30-40 people in attendance and mainly folks in their early 20s to 40s. So much fun and so nicely organized. The food, seating and flirty questions to help get the convos flowing were so on point. The event facilitators were energetic and friendly and did a great job helping us navigate the rotations during the “Speed Swim.” I couldn’t stop smiling and everyone was interesting to talk to. I walked away feeling the love and appreciating how good it felt to muster the courage to step outside of my comfort zone on a night when I didn’t have a date (and there is a lot of unspoken pressure to have a date on Valentine’s Day). It was nice to know that I’m not alone on the journey to finding love and while I wait…I can also be rewarded with great friendships or simply folks to go out for a coffee or a hike with.
This is what I've been waiting for as I’ve lived in Sonoma as a “new local” for 2 years. It's such a beautiful and romantic place but if you are single it can be very difficult to make friends and to find a strong candidate to date. It's a town filled with lots of marrieds and retirees who are lovely people but at the end of the day, it would be nice to meet your own love. It’s not easy to stay hopeful when it seems like everyone has found their match and you are still just waiting.
Everyone in the room at last night’s event was in agreement - Valley Swim Club should do this perhaps 1-2 times a month. I spoke to a few friends the following day (Saturday) who are single and they all want to attend the next event. P.S. Where was the photographer? I would have totally said “Yes” to having my photo...
Read moreWe went to Swim Club and had an amazing meal. The food was outstanding. We ordered and shared the fries, cashew queso, a salad, and a Korean-style Fish platter. Everything was flawless, and actually even better than dishes I've had at similar high-end restaurants with the best ingredients around. My wife is a chef and she agreed. We both thought this place deserves a much higher rating than the current 4.2 on google reviews. I tend to think the food is the most important thing when dining, and this food was beyond incredible. Plus, the service was great, our house-made drink was delicious, and the ambience/vibe was super cool and fun. We topped off our meal with a soft serve ice cream with Valley olive oil and sea...
Read moreYou get a chill vibe and good food here; a big plus is that most items are gluten free, something thar should be highlighted more prominently! Word to the wise: we ordered the Cesar salad with chicken, which said it is made with “local lettuces.” On the day we went, the lettuce was radicchio. Ugh, a whole salad with radicchio, not your typical Cesar. The chicken on it was perfectly cooked, the dressing not really a Cesar dressing, but unique and decent. But if you’re expecting endive or little gems with your Cesar, as most Cesar salads are made with, you’d be wise to ask what the “local lettuces” are, as the radicchio was an odd choice and fairly tough. Thankfully, the BLT with a gluten free bun was sublime and worth...
