I was craving some saucy food today, so I decided to give this place a fair try. It’s a rather local place, so I definitely wanted to swing by. After you walk inside, it seems to be more of a to-go place, rather than a sit-down restaurant. I browsed the large menu they had up top and placed an order.
I ordered the Rib Tip/Hot Link Combo (Large), which included Fries for $17.25. I also got 3 Jerk Chicken Tacos for $8.00 and a Large Mac and Cheese for $5.75. The cashier told me 15-20 minutes for my order. I found a chair and began to wait. There were a medley of people waiting around for their food as well. I’d say their operation with that is sloppy. My food ended up taking about half an hour it seemed. I took it home with the anticipation of finding a great new place.
Well, the Rib Tip/Hot Link Combo sure was heavy. Heavy doesn’t win the race, though. The Rib Tips were infested with fat on just about all of them. They just weren’t worth the digging. They had a faded, smoky flavor. The few bites I managed to scoundrel were okay, but the labor didn’t add up to the reward. The Hot Link was pretty good. I liked the spice it gave off and it was a really good size. The Fries weren’t too bad. They had barbecue sauce on them all and it added a bit of flavor. They also gave a piece of bread in the Combo. It was decent. The Mac and Cheese was pretty plain. It had better moments with the thicker areas of cheese melted on the Mac. I feel they could have gave more for the price. The Jerk Chicken Tacos were right on the line of average for me. The Chicken aspect was not the most flavorful with a distant breeze of heat. The vegetables were fresh, so that helped out a lot.
The service wasn’t too friendly. The cashier seemed to belittle me as I was ordering and nothing was warm about the encounter.
Overall, the price, service, and quality don’t reflect well in my opinion. I love trying new places, but unfortunately this one isn’t worth a second visit for me. Maybe someone else will appreciate it more than I did.

Read moreI am not sure where why all this hype still exist with this spot. Back in the day when he was at the flea market, yea I will give him that. However, NOW some many years later...HELL NO! First off, when you go IN the restaurant ALL you SEE is has face! No, let me BACK TRACK!!! When you pull UP to the spot all you see is his face plastered all over his vehicles! Then I get IN there and ALL you SEE is his FACE all over the WALLS! So as if THAT were not enough, he was in the ladies bathroom right above the toilet looking at me when I squatted! As you exit the store, NO worries...he has his picture on all the exterior windows! Now the reason I am pointing this OUT is because you have SOME restaurants/business owners that be doing the "most" and REALLY not doing ANYTHING! So to the "not anything" part. I ordered the special of the day, thinking my order would be expedited being its the special. It took almost 45 mins with 4 customers in the store! Additionally, I was offered NO apologies for my wait and total disregard for my apparent frustration. Furthermore, the catfish was WAY to over salted and you could taste that it was fried in cross-contaminated grease! Now, my ratings are not personal. I remember when this young man first started at the flea market and I used to go up there and try to encourage him. One GRILL he started with! Best ribs AROUND! I guess this is what happens when you get a big head. Great guy, but sometimes you get ahead of yourself and loose focus in your passion. This place in MY opinion has continually fell down, as far as quality in food is concerned and has now become the norm of what to expect with food in...
Read moreI usually don't post reviews, but after this past visit- I was beyond disappointed for spending my money here. I have been here once before. The first time I had ribtips and links, fries (which I didn't know came with it), baked beans and mac and cheese. the sides were all great. the tips were okay, but I had more bone than meat. I didn't even finish the link. It was soft and squishy.
I decided to try something else, just to make sure I wasn't being to hasty in judging the place. I had the soul food dinner. the bbq chicken, okra, mac and cheese, baked beans and fried green tomatoes. It comes with three sides- and I added the forth. the beans and mac and cheese was on point my son loves it. however, the corn bread was soggy and the half of chicken is loaded with sauce and not separated. You literally have to break this heavily sauced up chicken down, which is disgusting. in top of that, the skin peels off, but not in an appealing way. It was okay, but not the best chicken I ever had. also had a lot of fat that I was pulling apart from the meat. the most appetizing part besides the sides, was the peach cobbler. my lord it was amazing. however, the fried green tomatoes were horrible. Three were really soft and fell apart( and were thrown out). The last one was harder than the others, but none of them tasted like the homemade fried green tomatoes I remember. it really tasted only of cornmeal and little seasoning. the okra was okay, definitely better the the tomatoes.
If I order from here again, it would only be for the sides noted here and the...
