Today was my first time visiting this establishment. I am always happy to support and small and black owned business, especially right out of my own community. I am sad to say that S&G dropped the ball today. I called ahead of time to place my order where I was rushed and then instructed to come in and place my order that it will only be a 10-12 minute wait. Against my better judgement I reluctantly went in and still placed an order. We waited well over 25 minutes. The tall dark skin man was even more rude in person than on the phone. I understand being busy, but a little patience and good customer service goes a long way.
My spouse was just released from a 15 day stay in the hospital and wanted something good to eat. The pancakes were so dry they were falling apart like dry cake. The three meat skillet was decent at best and the wings were good. Sad to say I will never spend another dime here off of service alone. On top of cleanliness of the place. No way should you be handling money and people’s personal phones, profusely sweating, and handling food without any gloves or hand washes in between.
As we waited for our food, we noticed a guy walk in with several bags of groceries from Save More, right up the street. The food in that store alone is very questionable. He was made to wait outside until we left. As we sat in the car to leave we watched the owner and another cook run outside and grab the bags from the man and several other items out of the trunk of a black Escalade before anyone else walked inside of...
Read moreEdit I feel compelled to note the owner went out of his way and texted me on my personal phone after hours because of a negative review and also felt the need to state I, having over 20 years experience in food service including flat-top grills have a lack of experience. I also feel compelled to note the owner often is the sole employee due to his lack of managerial experience as well as a disregard for for quality over quantity. I walked into a filthy kitchen, despite the cleanliness of the lobby, with grease spots and dirt on most surfaces. I walked into a prep room with a busted food processor that barely functioned, yet I wonder how much it costs to fill up the tank on his Mid-Engine Corvette, to say nothing about the red vehicle he drove on Saturday. My food processor costs 20 dollars brand new, by the way.* Basic, overpriced food. Nothing makes it special, nothing. Super clean lobby though. Owner is nice to some customers, profane with others. Honestly not worth the price for...
Read moreStopped here the other day with my son. All I can say is the food was complete trash. I ordered the shrimp hibachi and my son had the chicken pasta. Let’s start with the shrimp hibachi — the shrimp was way over-seasoned, and to make it worse, there were a few fresh lime slices mixed in. That completely ruined the whole dish with a bitter, dull taste. Any chef with some sense should know that lime and heat don’t mix — it breaks down and makes the food taste awful. I took a few bites and couldn’t eat it anymore. My son’s pasta wasn’t any better — watery, flavorless, and the chicken had no taste at all. The cashier asked how the food was, and when I said it wasn’t good, she just said “OK” and walked off. Not sure why she even asked if she didn’t care. We literally threw the food away, left, and went somewhere else for lunch. This was my first and...
