SteelCity CheeseSteaks — Restaurant in Calumet Township

I ordered through GrubHub, and the experience was incredibly frustrating due to the numerous mistakes made with our order, as well as the complete lack of communication from the restaurant.

We ordered a Turkey Burger with no condiments—just a plain burger, which is exactly what we requested. However, they added every condiment available: mustard, ketchup, lettuce, pickles, tomato, and onions, which felt disrespectful given our simple request. I had only asked for ketchup and had even paid extra for cheese. It seemed like a straightforward order, but apparently, it wasn’t.

In addition, an entire fry and the mild sauce we ordered were missing. Keep in mind, we only ordered seven items, including the mild sauce.

The best part (or rather, the worst) was when I ordered a Grilled Cheese Dog from the Hot Dogs/Polish menu. Simple order, no modifications—yet they sent a cheese sandwich with no hot dog in it. Someone went without protein that evening, apparently.

We're new to Gary, so we are constantly trying new places. We chose SteelCity based off of the pictures. Then looking at their menu, the options were endless and it was hard to decide. THE SERVICE: I ordered online and wasn't able to pick the time I needed to pickup our food. So I called. Let me tell you...the lady that answered the phone was great. She was patient with me and answered my questions. When I told her it was our first time trying the restaurant, she gave me some of the back story. When I was at the restaurant everybody was great. Not too often I see EVERYONE at an establishment enjoying what they do. THE FOOD: We decided we'd try burgers and 2 different styles of fries. The SteelCity Steak Fries were hands down an amazing experience and plentiful. The burgers were smash burger style and if you're like me, you love the crispy edges. LOCATION: The only issue I had was finding the restaurant. I pass it twice day and had NO IDEA it was there. The Marathon station it shares the space with definitely hides it. BUT...now that we know it's there, we will definitely be going back. Thank you for the great meal and...

Ordered a sandwich with no mustard and add jalapeños. I received a burger with mustard and no jalapeños. They said I can come get a cup of jalapeños. Mind you, they close in twenty minutes and I would not have made it. They said I can get the jalapeños tomorrow. I don’t eat mustard, still can’t eat the sandwich. I asked for a refund. They said I can bring the sandwich back tomorrow and get a refund. I work a double tomorrow, 6a-10pm. Still no accommodation. As I’m telling them my schedule, the “manager” is in the background yelling “tell her to bring it. Bring it up here. Don’t bring no half eaten sandwich.” And let’s not forget the entry door was open so I was fighting flies the entire time while waiting on my food that was suppose to be ready in 25 minutes but...
