This was my first visit but I expect to be back!
As Oregon starts to reopen, it's a bit hard to know what to anticipate ... but I suppose we all hope for the best. My hopes were fulfilled on this stop.
I was on my home from running some out-of-my-area errands and decided to stop for a late lunch. I like Mexican food and this sounded (from what I saw on Google Maps) to be a good candidate.
There were a few other vehicles in the parking lot--typically an encouraging sign. There were several prominent Covid-related safe-ptactices notices posted on the door and window, in both English and Spanish. I was greeted warmly in the foyer by a masked host and shown to my table.
My waiter, also masked, appeared promptly and provided my menu and asked if I cared for a beverage. I needed to wash my hands and, when I returned to my table, my beverage had been delivered (in a lidded to-go cup), along with a basket of chips, a small carafe of salsa, a bowl for the salsa, and my table setting (real flatware).
My meal (#32 combination, with a cheese enchilada and a chili relleno, along with rice and beans) arrived soon afterward, piping hot. The food was excellent.
The host (once) and my waiter (two or three times) throughout my meal checked to see if everything was ok and to inquire if I needed anything. Before bringing my check (⭐ for the waiter), I was asked if I wished anything further. My waiter served as my cashier and the transaction was quick and uneventful.
The combination of ambience, service and food was everything I'd hoped it would be. The restaurant is some distance from my home but I would very happily stop there again when I'm...
Read moreThis was my boyfriend and I’s absolute favorite restaurant. We would go here all the time and the food and service was always great!
Unfortunately, I will not be going here again after the very rude encounter I had over the phone.
I was trying to plan my boyfriend’s birthday dinner and he really wanted to go here (of course), so I called to ask and make a reservation for Friday. The rude lady on the phone interrupted me and said they only take reservations on week days. I was a little thrown off and then I reminded her the Friday is a week day and she said, “Well, we don’t take reservations on Friday.” I tried explaining my situation, stating that it’s a special birthday party and there would be 14 people and she denied me. She said we should show up early and “see what they can do.” I explained to her that I can’t base this off of a possibility of them being able to seat all of us and she said that she couldn’t help me.
I’ve worked in a restaurant before that didn’t even take reservations, but even still, if it was a special occasion we would do anything we can to help.
I’m very disappointed and won’t...
Read moreThis place had been my favorite for something like 8 years before a recent incident that left a bitter taste in my mouth, to say the least. I asked for a trio fajita (chicken, steak, and shrimp) with no chicken, and they said they could just do a steak fajita with shrimp “at an upcharge,” so I said sure, whatever works. When it comes time to pay, I find that they have stuck me with a NINE DOLLAR UPCHARGE, costing over 30 dollars for a fajita which (as I originally ordered it) shouldn’t have been more than $22. Apparently, as one of the owners himself told me when I questioned it, they charged me for a full serving of shrimp, which I definitely did not ask for. You just do NOT upcharge $9 in one move without disclosing to the customer how much you’re actually talking about. “An upcharge,” unspecified, is maybe $3 at most. This is an unacceptable con. I used to be a regular and I just wish I was still going often enough at the time for them to notice that I am NEVER stepping foot in their...
