Nothing but “Likes”
This place hits on all “cylinders” - value, service and environment.
This is a long one. Please hang in there.
Environment
The physical environment was a nice surprise. Who would expect a warm, cozy “cabin-in-the-woods” feeling that’s tied to a gas station? Sounds strange but absolutely correct. The facility is a modestly-sized restaurant that, although part of a larger physical structure, actually feels completely separate from the rest of the complex. It reminds me of cabins in which I stayed at resorts and taverns I enjoyed in upscale places for the vacation. Warm wood-heavy and nicely / simply appointed.
Service
The environment was made even more warm by the outgoing nature of the staff. Table side servers were polite and pleasant. However the game was elevated to a far greater extent through the approach taken by the Manager - well-dressed, friendly, polite and professional. He was engaging and helpful from the time he greeted us at the Host desk and through the balance of the meal. He helped explain the food offerings, a bit of history on the restaurant as well as the variety of broader services and events offered by Town Cabin. It was both educational and interesting, resulting in our return for another experience within just one week of our first visit. He made us feel exceptionally welcome.
Value
Strong words coming…Any idiot can spend a small fortune on a meal delivered by a restaurant with over-inflated prices and an over-inflated sense of self worth. (I recall hearing the owner of a local restaurant, one with prices that were too high in our opinion, explain that eating at his place would “change your life”! Ridiculous, insulting and of course, far from the truth.
We and many of our friends and family have drastically reduced our restaurant visits because the prices are simply too high, portions are too small and the quality of what is sold is all simply not worth it.
Can we “afford” it? Yes. Do we wish to waste our money? No.
Do I blame COVID and inflation (as everyone else appears to)? To some degree. But in many if not most of our restaurant experiences of late, the prices feel offensive and do NOT represent the value anyone should seek. (And yes, we do understand business operations and the need for healthy margins – we own a small business, led large organizations and we had a busy restaurant in the family in the past.) We’re not idiots and our expectations are realistic.
What drew us in (upon a recommendation of a friend), were the specials prices. Yes…that made the value equation work for us.
Please…keep that approach in tact. We believe that it will pay off. Why? Our opinion is that approach is likely to continue to work, due to the fact that, we ordered several other high margin items. And the prices will also cause us (and others) to return again, for non-specials as well as the high margin beverages, outdoor eating at the other part of your venue, etc. (Maybe making price reductions on other non-special menu items may help grow both top and bottom lines as well.)
Think long term. Be better / lower / more consumer friendly-priced than your competitors. Give the consumer a solid reason to CHANGE their buying behavior. Be different.) All opinions, not advice.
Thanks to the value and service we received, in a pleasant setting, we have already recommended your establishment to others. And we will return.
Nice job.
As always, this is all just our opinion and our feelings. Some others may not agree with our feelings and opinions. Please visit the place and form your own opinion. Thanks for reading this...
Read moreThis was an absolutely amazing experience. The staff were very friendly to talk with. Even the manager came over to our table to greet us which was wicked awesome!
It was recommended by our neighbors to try them out so the four of us went there tonight.
The gentleman-neighbor ordered the the two-topping special mushroom/black olive. That pizza is absolutely incredible! Not too thin, not too thick - just right. They balanced enough toppings so you will be guaranteed to take a bite and have everything tasted in that one bite. I cant eat gluten but I could easily see this was a well-made pie.
My husband ordered one of the 1/2lb burgers with the fresh hand-cut fries. That burger was cooked to perfection. He ate everything on his plate.
The lady-neighbor in our party ordered the maple-bourbon steak tips with fresh hand-cut fries. She shared that she absolutely enjoyed them. They were cooked perfectly to her liking. The portion was really big. She had two large tips remaining.
I ordered the chicken wings and small order of fresh hand-cut fries. I asked about if they could spice up the buffalo sauce. The server shared with me that "ohhhh the kitchen is gonna love that!" - they brought up some wicked juicy wings, french fries were awesome... and the cooks did a wicked awesome job dolling up the buffalo sauce to give it more kick.
This was such a great experience and pleasure that my husband and I cant wait to come back again... tonight was our first time here and it was just...
Read moreI think the shoppe is part of this business. I didn't visit the restaurant/deli part yet, but, I intend to. I hope they will accept the advertisement in the Hippo 🦛 Press 🗞️ newspaper if you buy ten gallons of gas ⛽ for a 10% discount on meals if you bring the advertisement and your receipt. Store looks great. Local maple 🍁 syrup for sale. Wines, prepared foods to go, soda 🥤 vending machine and of course, groceries. Facemasks required. Update: Saturday evening 🌆, March 2021; I had dinner 🍽️ and it was good. I tried the Wild Rice 🌾 Bowl 🥣 with Maple 🍁 Burboun Steak 🥩 Tips and broccoli 🥦. The steak and broccoli cost extra.Wild rice with sauteed mushrooms, onions 🧅 and green peppers. It was recommended as a dish that would fill you up but without the discomfort that comes with eating a lot. The dish was deep. I didn't eat it all because the dessert special, Warm Gingerbread with marinated 🍎 apples and spiced whipped cream. A little powdered sugar was sprinkled on the gingerbread. My server was the bartender and she was so outgoing 📩 and friendly. I received a warm greeting and she answered my questions. She has excellent customer service. Only issue, she was so busy I had to wait for her to come back to my table. I think I met the owner. We chatted for a minute about the cost of advertisement especially with Hippo 🦛 Press. Very busy and loud 📢 on a Saturday night. No loud music 🎶, just the customers. Wifi available. I recommend a visit. Brunch on Sunday, 9-11am. I will try...
