I am highly upset. First off, I had been coming by this restaurant to try it but each time they were closed. I finally caught them open and went in to try it. The front counter ladies were a little more friendlier than what you get from most Jamaican restaurants but I still wouldn't give it a high score. However the food was so good up until today(today was my 3rd day straight going here) I got there at 11am and the cook was there and said they don't open until 11:00 am, I said it is 11:00am..he then said oh I dont know where the front counter lady is come back in 30 minutes. I came back and the owners son was working the front. The lunch special jerk chicken wasn't available so I got the small jersey chicken for 14.00 and a 5.00 ginger beer which came to 20.52...I got where I was going and starting eating the jerk chicken and it was not cooked all the way, I took it back and the son, the owner and the cook tried to make me think that I wasn't seeing what I was seeing which was blood. He then admitted that the chicken needed to be cooked more.he asked me did i want brown stew chicken or something else,, I got curry chicken...got where I was going took the fork and opened ip the curry chicken and the same thing...undercooked(I took pictures this time and called up there. The son said he would call his dad and call me right back, which he did not. I drove back up there and the son was casually filling the cooler not thinking about calling me back. He advised me that him or his dad doesn't have the card to the cash register to refund my money...mind you they never gave me the difference back between the jerk chicken and curry chicken...anyways he said his dad was calling somebody who has the card to do the refund and that they will call me and that basically there is nothing they can do at this moment. Cash and debit are the same, so they could have refunded my money if they really wanted to take care of their customer. As a business owner, I would have never let a customer walk away like that. I left with no food or money....and as you can see from comments, this is not the first time someone got undercooked meat. Just as someone stated, it seems as if they are just after the money and not properly serving the community. Take 5 minutes more and drive to Fireside Jamaican restaurant on bouldercrest by 285...you won't regret it.....I eat out every day and just wanted to support them too but will never go back. I will take them to small claims court, though if I don't get my refund and they will come off more money. It's the principle, you're not going to just take my money like that. I have to figure out how to post the pictures of the chicken here. I will come back with an outcome once I get the outcome...As of this moment I haven't received anything...money and I left the raw food there with the son and now waiting to hear back from them. Oh, and by the way, I kept the ginger beer . Just want to document everything correctly. I couldn't add pictures directly here, but if you click on my photos, you will see pictures of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food is SO good. This was our first time trying Port Royal and we certainly plan to return. We'd been looking for a Carribean food place nearby for a bit and would pass by a little plain sign before getting on I-20E. Today, I decided to check it out.
I almost didn't go into the spot because it looked empty. When I did enter, there was no food out, no one behind the counter and 1 person waiting. Though austere in appearance, everything was very clean, service was polite and the prepared food was just covered.
I didn't see a menu, so I asked and received the basics, jerk and curry chicken meals that came in small, med and large sizes. I got two smalls, just in case we didn't like it. Let me just say, the next time we will get a med or large. There was plenty of food in a small and the prices are very reasonable.
For me, the curry chicken had a wonderful flavor with a something extra that I couldn't put my finger on. The balance of spice flavor and heat was perfect for me. The jerk chicken's heat was well elevated above that of the curry to my hubby's satisfaction.
Port Royal is a gem. If you blink twice while turning on flat shoals, you could pass it. I'm so glad we took a chance on PR and look forward to trying their...
