Bostwick Lake Inn — Restaurant in Cannon Township

Been to BWLI a few times. Normally the staff, service and food are great! Not to mention the lake view is amazing on the deck. Never had anything bad to say about them. Last night my wife and I went there for dinner and it was by far the worst. First we had a hour forty-five hour wait, which ok on a Friday night at 6:30 was not surprising. So we said we will wait and given a pager and went to sit at the outside bar. Waited for two chairs to free up and sat down to enjoy a drink and order an appetizer when our pager goes off. We walk up to the hostess and she looks at us blankly and says we were wrong and she didn't page us. I said it vibrated and lit up green. The hostess says sorry but I didn't page you. I said great we just gave up our seat at the bar and now we have no table? We walk away and sit at the beach area and then 30 min later goes off again. This time I save our seats and my wife goes up there and the same hostess says she didn't page us. My wife asks if it is broken then and the hostess didn't say anything then the other hostess said oh I'm sorry I think I paged you. But I don't have a table for you I must of hit it by mistake. We then get an open seat at the bar again and my wife orders a drink and the waiter delivers it. My wife goes to scoot it closer to her and the entire glass explodes all over her right in front of the waiter. He then tells her it was her fault she must of hit it on the table. Really her fault for moving it 2 inches across the table? Then said he will bring another one right over. And didn't bring it over till I found him and asked what's going on 15 minutes later. Then BWLI charged us for it. Worst experience we have ever received at any...

7/24 Getting better, overall. Selection of food is increasing and we had some great brunch specials on our Sunday visit. We enjoyed viewing the lake and staff was kind enough to turn down the music so our party could talk. Our waitress was attentive but the kitchen misread our order so we waited a bit longer. What might have been 1.5hrs was closer to 2. This visit and last have been enjoyable enough, so raising from 2 to 4 overall. I'm a tough critic for my local establishments. Thanks for being in our neighborhood.

7/23 Really the only reason I keep going here is because it's in my neighborhood and today they happened to be open when my other local favorite was closed to meet with friends. Again, not very good food. I could find a lot to complain about, but all of it about the foods. The atmosphere and our server were both wonderful. If you're looking for a bar or just want to sit by the lake, check this place out.

9/2022 Wish I had better things to say two years later. Dropped a star. Menu is much the same. Things just taste 'weird' here. How can you mess up pizza? I wish I could like. I won't be fooled a third time. If someone tells me I really need to try the new menu here, I'll be back. Too many other decent restaurants around. Done.

8/2020 The atmosphere here is nice on the lake. Aside from that, I have difficulty finding enjoyable foods here. The menu seems rather sparse and somewhat uninspiring, but every few months I come back to find not much interesting. It remains a popular place to go, but I never understand why. The drink menu seems to be larger than other places, maybe...

Sadly, the experience we had at BLI was not the best. We had a large party, there were 17 of us, seated in a small, cramped area with very little air circulation. There was a small window unit AC but my poor nephew froze as he sat 3 inches from it but the rest of us were sweating. Our waiter seemed to do the best he could, but management should have given him a backup server or there should have been someone else checking on us. Between 17 people, someone was constantly needing something. It was a very hot day and we had small glasses of water that were always empty. We asked for water countless times, even after small carafes of water were brought, which only filled 2-3 glasses at a time, those were always empty as well. He didn’t take our food order for at least 30 minutes after we received our first drinks. Everything just dragged on and on, unnecessarily so. My husband’s meal didn’t arrive for 10 minutes after all the other meals. To top it off, there was an issue in the ladies bathroom and we weren’t allowed to use the bathroom for 20 minutes, then once they allowed us to go in there, the floor was covered in dirty water and was just gross. Even with an ‘out of order’ sign on the one stall, patrons kept using it. My nieces and nephews ordered dessert, but they only had one left of a certain baked brownie/cookie type and so one had to choose something else. Once that one baked cookie dessert came out, it was so burned on the bottom she could barely eat just part of it. Bad experience overall, very sad because we have always loved the place...
