My close friends decided to celebrate their 47th Wedding Anniversary at this restaurant. Since I was a bridesmaid in their wedding, and I'm visiting from Canada, I was there to help them celebrate. J. Michael's Prime turned out to be the perfect choice for supper! In fact, this was the best restaurant I've visited in a very long time. Really...the best. First of all, the young men at the valet service were friendly & polite, and were true gentlemen in opening doors for us. Secondly, our server, Chris, was just downright wonderful. She was funny, helpful, and is a true asset to this restaurant. She made our meal a truly enjoyable experience. Our other server, Jacob, was also friendly and funny. Both were exceptionally efficient. Thirdly, the food was amazing. My friends and I shared oyster appetizers...fresh ones and the Kalefeller baked ones. Delicious! My prime rib was super tender, delicious, and cooked to a perfect medium. My baked potato was huge, and tasty. One friend had the scallop risotto; the other chose a fillet. Both raved about their meals. I also appreciated a decent list of Mocktails, as I can't drink alcohol. I'd highly recommend the Blackberry Mint Mule! I was actually impressed that the sommelier brought my friend a sample of rose wine to try so she could taste it before ordering a glass. That truly is customer-centered service! As an added surprise, we were served a Turtle Cheesecake to share for my friends' anniversary. As well, we had a wonderful conversation at our table with one of the proprietors. It was interesting to hear how the owners' started this restaurant, and how family values and customer service is so important here. Many thanks to J. Michael's Prime for a truly enjoyable evening!

This has been our go-to place for special date nights and occasions for a couple years now. The restaurant is gorgeous and has a beautiful view on the back deck. The food is absolutely delicious...my fiance says they have some of the best steaks and I love their pasta dish (keep in mind, very big portions). The staff have always been great. We absolutely would recommend this place! A couple things we've noticed over the years, likely due to the increasing popularity: (1) Parking: It's valet only which is totally fine but a couple of times, we had to wait in a long line to get to valet. Do NOT park across the street in the small shopping center. They are very strict about no J Michael Prime parking (so.many.signs). (2) Extra touches: One of the reasons we first fell in love with this place is when we put a note in our reservation to make it special, they really did! However, the last couple times, our note (for an anniversary and a birthday) seemed to have gone unnoticed or maybe not relayed. Though I will say that for Mother's Day weekend, they were giving all the mothers a free glass of champagne, which was a nice touch.

J Michael is a hidden gem! The resturant offers free parking and complimentary valet. I highly recommend car pooling if you plan on dining in during peak hours or the weekends as parking may be limited. The resturant is spacious with a full bar upon entry. The service was impeccable. For appetizers, we ordered a dozen west coast oysters from Prince Edward Island and dozen east coast oysters from Virginia. Both were favorable but we enjoyed the PEI most. The oysters were accompanied by mignonette sauce and cocktail sauce w/ horseradish. For our entrees, we opted for $70 kind crab legs, $46 8oz wet age Filet w/ black truffle butter, bone marrow, and their bone in ribeye w bone marrow butter, sd corn, asparagus, and brussel sprouts. Crab legs were served chilled over ice. My 8oz filet was cooked to perfection. The black truffle butter has no truffle taste. I would opt out of this. The ribeye was juicy and fabulous complimented by the bone marrow butter. Service was 5/5.

I like this restaurant, but they NEED to do something about the parking situation. If you eat here never do it on a weekend between the hours of 5:30-7:30.

We have young children and were very excited to get out for a date night. Pulling up to the restaurant there was already a line around the corner waiting to get into the parking lot. We drove around, but there really weren't any options to park in the neighborhood or nearby parking lots. I dropped my husband off to get our table and went to get in line, but at this point it was even longer and only one car had moved in the 5 minutes we were driving around looking for parking.

My husband let me know he had been seated and the waiter got us some waters. I finally gave up and parked across the street. I even asked the gas station if I could buy something and park in their parking lot and they said I could try but they weren't responsible if anything happened to my car.

I took my chances and decided I would try to move my car if the line to get into the parking lot died down. I went in we ordered some appetizers and our meal. After about 25 minutes the line to get into the parking lot finally had just 3 cars left in it. So I ran across the street to move my car (which already had a huge "FINAL WARNING" sticker on the windshield saying they took down my license I would be towed next time.)

I still had to wait 5-10 minutes to get into the parking lot with the 3 cars that were left. Those poor valet guys were STRESSED. When I got back to our table our food came shortly after.

We tried not to let it ruin our night. The food was solid and the waiter was nice as well as the staff. But for paying upwards of $150 a plate I expect to have the basic need of being able to get in to the parking lot met. I just left feeling disappointed because I hardly got to speak with my husband on one of our seldom date nights because I spent half the date parking and stressed out that I might get towed. And to top it all off when I got home I got to end my night by scraping the sticker off my window with goo be gone and a credit card.

Writing this review so hopefully this issue is brought to their attention. I think a few more people working on the valet staff could be really beneficial. Or trying to work something out with nearby businesses for a little extra parking. I saw MANY other patrons stressed trying to park and walking in late to their...

This is our Go-To for special occasions. This was our fourth visit. It has always been great food. We were celebrating my birthday and this particular visit was not the experience we have been used to. Our server (who we’ve seen over the past year) must have had too many tables spread across the restaurant as we didn’t see him as often as we saw the other servers around us. The first thing was the internet was out and apparently the servers can’t do anything like take a drink order, or order appetizers, without the internet. I understand everything has to get put into the system to get on the check, but is there no backup plan when the internet is out? What if the internet was out over the course of business hours?

The salads were noticeably smaller with a few brownish leaves of lettuce. My spouse ordered the salmon which could have used more seasoning. It lacked the wonderful flavor of past visits. The vegetables that came with the salmon were cool and not well cooked. My steak was overcooked. The wait staff that brought our food was very responsive, apologized, and offered to replace it. Pretty quickly, she returned with someone else holding her phone with the flashlight on. They wanted me to look at it “in the light” because they thought I was in a shadow and couldn’t tell the actual cook of the steak. If anything it only supported my statement. I was completely offended by this action. We almost left. But I let them try to remedy the situation. The next steak came out mostly cooked as requested. However, there were several slices across the top of the steak. Likely for the chef to see the color, but lead to a bit drier steak as it sat during dinner. There was already so much at this point we were just going to finish what we wanted and head home.

The really positive things about dinner was a nice, cordial visit from Scott, one of the managers, before we ordered. I did receive a very good complementary chocolate mousse/peanut butter cake dessert to celebrate my birthday.

We’re not sure if we’ll return. Maybe it was an off night. After past experiences, it hurts to pay this kind of money that doesn’t meet the expectations of a high end...

Two visits. A year apart. Both special occasions.

First visit was nice. Steak are amazing. Service beyond top notch. Made us want to come back.

Second visit. Somewhat disappointing. To begin we were seated in - if i recall one of four two chair tables that have been placed so close to each other that one can easily and distinctly hear each other's tables conversation. It's all the exceptional service can manage to not have their backside on the adjoining table while speaking with you or serving. They do a very good job handling the circumstances, but these tables are not set up properly distanced to allow wait staff or servers to do there job easily. Atmosphere can be nice....but not at these tables. I believe these are numbers 53-56. I may have those wrong. My frustration was that the restaurant was not that busy as two of these four tables remained empty ( patrons walking in either complained and were seated elsewhere, or were finishing as we were coming in). Furthermore many tables around us stayed empty. While I could have and should have asked to be moved ( or walked out) , I felt extremely awkward asking since the people seated right next to where we were placed had noticed how uncomfortable we were and were staring. To be clear after our drinks had arrived the exceptional wait staff acknowledged how we felt and offered to move us, but it felt to me as inappropriate given we should never have been put in a situation where the offer was easily in earshot of the patrons at the next table. ( in reality it felt like they were sitting with us.) We made the best of it.

The steak was excellent. As was the asparagus. However the properly cooked Bussel Spouts are drenched in a sauce that overpowers and becomes cloyingly sweet. The mushrooms were a disappointment. Too much salt. Like Dead Sea levels. ( Unsurprisingly the table beside us overheard me commenting to my wife and agreed.)

So a mixed bag. An excellent steak in a disappointing atmosphere. I'm uncertain if we will come back. Probably will. Most definitely will walk out if seated at any of those...
