I doubt we're coming back. The chai tea is good but kinda weak, kinda watered down. We mainly came just for the cinnamon rolls because they were really good. Previously, they would run out nearly everytime. But now, they said they just cleaned out all food and only serving drinks. The food was expensive too. Cinnamon rolls were about $3. Also, I paid $3 for a simple bagel with a small thing of cream cheese that wasn't enough cheese to cover both halves. So at that price, you would think they're making enough money to keep selling because the demand was still there with a high price. Most coffee shops have things to eat but this one doesn't anymore so there's no point in coming back. There's a new coffee shop opening up soon in Canyon so you would expect them to stand out and be different from the competition, we'll see. In a good business, you wouldn't stop selling something that has a high demand.
Now, about what other person is complaining about with the mask mandate, I think it's great they slowing the spread and following the governors mandate. As I was previously in the medical field, I understand that wearing a mask is what's slowing the spread so I don't understand why anyone would be complaining about that. You should use hand sanitizer and wear a mask. I don't like being around people that don't so it makes this a comfortable and safe place to come to. If you don't want to wear a mask, go make coffee at home, you should be staying at home and/or in quarantine anyway if you don't want to make it safe for everyone else. Just because we live in a small town, doesn't mean you can't spread this contagious virus. The governor mandated wearing a mask and complaining about doing the right thing should void those...
Read moreWe planned to buy cookies from the Cake Company across the street and bring them to Palace Coffee for hot cocoa on December 1st for the "Christmas in Canyon" celebration before the parade. You know, supporting local businesses and so on. (We've done this previously with no issues.)
They told my THREE year old he couldn't eat his cookie. So, we went to another local business, Barrel & Pie, and got delicious hot cocoa from them instead. Faster service and friendly staff.
Palace Coffee employees should probably work on getting their orders completed rather than focusing on what a 3 year old and his little sister are eating.
Roasters in Amarillo is a much better coffee stop, maybe they'll come to Canyon soon!
Reply to Patrick: Thank you for your response. I fully appreciate no food or drink signs and missed it in our excitement. It is unfortunate you do not allow cookies from other local businesses during nonevent times.
However, if YOU wave this during events then you might want to train your staff not to say "it's in the Health Code" and "we'll get a big fine for it" as well as the additional...
Read moreMy partner and I stopped here during our trip to Palo Duro Canyon. I own a coffee shop in Austin and I just want to say WOW. From customer service, to quality of beverages, Palace knocked it out of the park. I especially want to highlight Mallory! She took her time helping us find the right drinks and making some recommendations to check out in the area. From over hearing other’s conversations I can tell she has such a great rapport with her regulars and even guests that have visited one or two times. She is truly a gem and exudes such a positive energy in the space it’s contagious. Keep it up Mallory and if you ever move back to Austin I’d love to offer...
