Catching the Rays and Good Times: Four Stars for Sunset Beach Bar and Grill Sunset Beach Bar and Grill on the Eastern Shore of Virginia definitely lives up to its name, offering some truly spectacular sunset views over the Chesapeake Bay. This is a prime spot to unwind, grab a drink, and enjoy the relaxed coastal vibe that's so characteristic of this region. It's a key amenity for those staying at the nearby resort and a popular stop for anyone looking for a casual, waterfront dining experience. The atmosphere is a huge draw here. Being right on the beach, with the sound of the waves and the vibrant hues of the setting sun, creates an incredibly appealing backdrop for any meal or happy hour. They often have live music, which adds a fantastic energy to the place without being overwhelmingly loud. It's family-friendly and generally dog-friendly in the outdoor seating areas, which is a big plus for many visitors to the Eastern Shore. The food is solid beach bar fare – think fresh seafood, burgers, and other casual bites that hit the spot after a day in the sun. The portions are decent, and the flavors are generally good, leaning towards satisfying comfort food. Their drink selection, especially the cocktails, is well-suited for the beach setting. Service is typically efficient and friendly, even when they're busy, which is often the case during peak season. What keeps it from a perfect five stars is primarily the overall consistency of the food and the occasional wait times. While most dishes are good, a few times I've found them to be just "okay." Also, because it's such a popular spot, especially at sunset, getting a table or even a drink can sometimes involve a bit of a wait. However, these are minor points considering the overall experience. Ultimately, Sunset Beach Bar and Grill is a fantastic choice for its incredible location and lively atmosphere. It's the ideal spot to soak in a quintessential Eastern Shore evening, enjoy some good food and drinks, and make some lasting memories. Highly recommended for a casual, fun...

WOW! What a fantastic place to enjoy fresh, delicious food and drinks at the beach! We visited here a few years ago and were dissatisfied with both service and food, but we learned that a new owner and new manager have completely turned things around! We are so glad we returned this year! Bright, colorful seating, excellent views waterfront — and there is far more than “cosmetic” about the changes at this bar & grill. We watched the new manager and his team handle a July 4th crowd with ease - capable and cheerful! Whoever is cooking — thank you! Our food was delicious! — fresh and really good! And the bar drinks were perfect - made fresh on the spot! We watched them prepare a famous “Crush” with crushed fresh orange juice right before our eyes. Yea - they actually cut a Valencia orange in half and crushed the fresh juice right into your glass! It was 100° out under the sun - but the island drinks and beer served here easily took the edge off the heat. They are in process of building a new outdoor bar and revamping the outside decks. I imagine this will be one of the best waterfront hangouts in Cape Charles for years to come! The KOA campground resort is there too and general public is welcome to dine and enjoy even if you aren’t staying at the KOA. Well done to the new owners and management! Cant...

Sunset Beach Bar & Grille delivers well on its limited menu. They also make a nice cocktail or two if you are ready for a drink to accompany you beach time. Overall, they get my recommendation.

We were staying at Sunset Beach Resort and did not have a lot of time to explore the local area on our first day. Wanting something fairly quick, we walked down to the beach. I did enjoy the old Jackspot, so was somewhat disappointed to see that it had turned over to Sunset Beach Bar & Grille.

However, once I walked in, I was happy to see they kept the menu tight to focus their execution. The bartender was quick to greet and patient as I looked over the menu and ordered some takeout. I came ahead of a rush and my food arrived (to-go) fairly quickly.

I loved the cheese burger - it was a bit old school and tasted like what I used to make it the backyard. The fish tacos were meaty and delish. We both felt satisfied with our meals and would recommend - especially for those looking for a quick bite...

It was lovely. I was traveling and crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. It was getting late so I stopped at the Welcome Center. I decided vending machine snacks were not going to be good enough so I went looking for someplace to eat. I saw on my Google maps that the restaurant was close by so I pulled in. There’s a hotel and campground in the front. I drove to the back and it sits right above the beach. The view is beautiful though it was chilly and overcast I got some great pictures. The restaurant is small and welcoming. Other than the food, the server was amazing. She asked my name and every person that came in. AND SHE USED MY NAME. She is brilliant! She gave a great presentation on the menu and the specials. I had the fish tacos and let me tell you, the fish was delicious and CRISPY. There’s two and was more than I could eat. So I took one to go. 🤫I woke up about 4:00 AM and had the other one. Still crispy. If you’re traveling that way stop in. You will not be disappointed.

After driving all day to get from western New Jersey, down through Delaware, we were about to cross the huge bridge across the Chesapeake to get to Virginia Beach, and the family was getting Hangry. This was the last place I could find before we crossed and I'm so glad we took a risk on it. Rory entertained and engaged my three kids, and spent time explaining about cargo ships on the bay and made a delicious sunset punch. The food was excellent and the view is fantastic. This place is hidden in the back of the KOA, but if you're passing through it is well worth a stop, even if you're not staying at the campground. After a filling and delicious dinner and some fresh air, everyone enjoyed the rest of our drive so much more.

Location, Location, Location, right on the beach with a great view of the bay and magical sunset views. Large patio areas and deck seating. Right on the beach, with lots of colorful table and chairs. Food was pretty good. We got pickle brine chicken fingers, smash burger, clam strips, coconut shrimp and some garlic wings. Everything was pretty happy with their food. Decent drink menu. Servers were friendly and kind of working as a team. Not sure if you can visit if not staying at the KOA, since its on property, but if you are you should stop in.
