Rosebuds BBQ — Restaurant in Capitol Heights

I popped by this spot because it's suppose to be somewhat local. It's also a B.O.B. (Black-owned business) so I decided to patronize it and support. There are few positives because unfortunately this place needs work...

1. Location, location, location, is everything and this place would probably operate WAY better if it a) had accessible free parking, b) wasn't next to a sketchy/dangerous liquor store w/police onsite 🚓, c) in the hood, d) wasn't rocking the bulletproof plastic front, 2) The food 🤔, I bought the burger w/cheese added, fries, and ribs sandwich (1 pound.) Why couldn't the burger be fresh and grilled?! You literally couldn't take the time to do that, and then had the nerve to glance up to SEE if I saw you microwave the burger/ribs?! The gall 🙄...,
2. the staff in the back WTH aren't they working? If they wanna gossip and keke, they need to act like they're busy!; 4) the poor family of 3 in back of me were waiting for like 10 minutes (no staff members tended to them until you finished processing my payment), 5) the place could use a wipe down and actual Coronavirus precautions in place (pandemic active still in May 2022), and lastly 6) instead of pandemic vacations in 2022 to the Caribbean 🏝️, put that effort in your restaurant and then it could truly be a household name - instead of having food I won't let near my household again...

Overall, have pride where you have your business and stop cutting corners. This was such a bad first impression, not just as a business - but as a Black-owned business. Cut down the plastic please and use paper or compostable packaging and no plastic bags! Mother Earth deserves the best! The positives are few and far between: such as the wings being huge (didn't buy, just saw) and the prices are cool.

My boyfriend and I wanted something different for dinner and neither one of us were in the mood to cook. My boyfriend pulled up some black-owned business in the area and decided to give Rosebuds a try. I am not a big rib person but overall, the food was good. I elected for the pork platter with greens and mac-n-cheese and my boyfriend chose the beef platter with hamburger beans and potato salad. They mixed cabbage with their greens which was the first time ever having that combination it was good. The hamburger beans are pork and beans with hamburger meat… it was just that nothing spectacular. The mac and cheese is mediocre, personally I like mine extra cheeeeesy, ribs were slightly tough but still edible. If you have a large vehicle like ours, parking will be difficult considering the limited parking available. 3...

Most and all of my supposed to be hot food like the ribs, pulled chx and pork was microwaved, including the baked beans. Collard greens mixed with cabbage was on the stove. The potato salad was great. When I got home to eat, I ate some ribs but couldn’t sleep at all that nite. I think the ribs and greens were too salty. Had a terrible headache. I was a little disappointed on how the ribs tasted. It didn’t taste freshly grilled. The meats tasted like it was cooked two days before. I love supporting my B.O.B, but this time, I wasn’t 100%...
