Marvin Gaye Playground — Attraction in Washington

The concept of this place it great. It would have gotten 5 stars maybe in the first month. It's a very pretty structure with a beautiful splash zone made to resemble music notes. The play equipment is awesome. My reason for the three star rating: The location is hideous. Situated on a strip of land between row homes and woods. It's basically 10 steps from one side to the other near the water so if you didnt come to get wet, stay away. The picnic tables are right on the end of the water feature so if you plan on bringing multiple kids, bring multiple adults. You cant see the whole park from any angle so you have to keep moving. Now I know there is nothing dpr can do about undesirables so I'm not gonna go there, But what can be regulated is the trash. The cans are full to the brim and flies are swarming. Oh yeah I enjoy going down there family and friend's they be having basketball tournaments down there food etc. It be alot of people too and enjoy going to the play ground I'm a big kid took my oldest grandson he put some swim shorts on and got wet from the water that comes out of the rides I said I was gonna go down there in my bathing suit one day 😆🤣 adventurous I like to have fun every now and than they also have a nice rec with a baseball or football field too I almost forgot about that the rec is really nice inside I went down to rec when they...

This place is unsafe. Rebar is sticking up out of the ground, fences are rusted or broken exposing sharp edges, broken glass all over, and other general maintenance issues. It's completely ignored by city officials and the parks department.

A lot of the damage and dangerous debris is from adults without children using the park as a gathering place to drink alcohol...
