Cute place, great location. My coffee is basic. Breve latte with brown sugar which is hard to get wrong. I removed two starts because I thought it was extremely lame that she actually charged me .75 cents for a scoop of brown sugar. I am the type of person who visits a town and tries every single locally owned coffee shop. Never in the over 100 plus coffee shops that I have had the pleasure of trying all over the Western Hemisphere have I ever ever once been charged for sugar. So because i asked for “brown sugar” that was a special request syrup charge worthy of half the price of a box of brown sugar. Its not that big of a deal but worth mentioning and enough to not go back. A small latte only half full at that because it was more like a cappuccino full of foam for 6.50? Hard pass. Starbucks is next door to my bungalow and the same coffee was 5.00. I also was turned off by seeing Costco muffins at a locally owned place. I like when they bake their own or source locally from other bakers. So I removed a star for that too. Coffee flavor...
Read moreI found this little gem on my way to Carmel and I am SO GLAD I chose this place. I needed to take a work call in a quiet and professional setting and California Coffee came through strong.
Parking was easy and felt plentiful. The staff was friendly, efficient, and attentive.
I ordered the Pistache latte and it was INCREDIBLE. I asked the barista if it was sweet and she assured me it wasn’t too sweet (if I had a nickel for every time I’ve been mislead with sweetness level in my life…) She was right. It was perfect. Not too sweet, not too bland, subtly flavorful. AND they have decaf espresso beans.
I will most certainly be back here.
The food and pastries looked great and very fresh also.
The WiFi was fast and reliable and the walk set in background was so good, my coworkers commented on how cute it was.
I’ll definitely...
Read moreCoffee was cold when I got there around 2:30. That indicates that the store is in violation of hot holding standards. Not sure if this indicates other health and safety violations but I didn't stick around to be sure.
The single employee didn't seem to care that the coffee was cold. She offered to microwave it, but then she threw my cup away directly from the microwave saying it had overflowed. No refund offered, so I was stuck with a cold cup of coffee for $2...
I got what looked like a brownie. No prices listed, and it ended up costing nearly $4 for a 2x2 square or about $1 per bite.
I've really enjoyed this place in the past so I'm hoping this was a fluke bad experience, but it was a really bad experience from the food safety violations to the really expensive brownie to the...
