Speaking of food—wow. The pizzas here are truly something special. Read moreAre you a Carmel mom that wants to drink wine with other Carmel moms while hitting on younger men, all while not leaving the comfort of you own neighborhood? Boy do I have the place for you! All joking aside that is the vibe of this place. Overall the restraunt and theme are styled well and definitely inviting. But that's where the troubles start. Firstly let me say our server, Victoria, was amazing and very knowledgeable about everything and beyond pleasent. That being said upon being sat at a table in the bar and left with menus there is no way you can attempt to read with out holding it up to some source of light not provided by the establishment, whether your lucky like myself to have some dim setting sun light left or if like the people set shortly after us who were forced to use a the flashlight on their phones. It's just honestly silliness. After ordering a server passed with a few plates to which I immediately made the comment "God that smells like dirty feet", a half our later our pizzas arrived only to find the "baby cheezus" we had order was in fact the dirty foot smell. I am not exaggerating when I say the pizza reaked. It was so bad I made them box it up so I didn't have to smell it. I couldn't even eat a full piece. That being said the pepperoni piquante pizza was pretty good. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients though it was a bit scorched on the bottom. The breadsticks were very good. And the side car sauces were very interesting in the way you can add it to your pizza to alter the taste, though nothing could over power that stinky...
Read moreI had previously eaten at Pizzology downtown and it was GREAT. I've been wanting to try the Carmel location for awhile and it really was underwhelming, but has so much missed potential. One really offputting weird thing was that there was a very strong foul odor when first entering the resturant, when I mentioned this to the staff they indicated it was a known problem with the drains. I ordered a small margarita pizza - some misses that were really obvious to me as a Ooni pizza maker at home, the floor of their pizza oven was too hot, there was alot of charring on the bottom of the pizza but the middle and top of the pizza was clearly not getting enough oven time or top heat. Secondly, and this seems to be common in alot of the reviews, they put the super hot out of the oven pizza directly on a ceramic plate to serve, this immediately will make a pizza very soggy and taste undercooked, it must be placed on a wire rack or other device to prevent the steam from trapping under the pizza and immediately rendering it soggy. When I think about all these things in totality, it's just poor management and/or kitchen managent, all of these things could be avoided, the crust quality is pretty decent, the ingredients seem pretty good, but the art of the prep and overall experience delivery was...
