It's not very often that I get blown out of the water when it comes to food but on our way home from Indiana yesterday we got hungry and was looking for lunch in Carmi, IL. Joy googled and found this place. We rolled up in front and wasn't sure it was even a restaurant but took a chance and went in. We felt out of place and under dressed at first but we're welcomed in wholeheartedly even in our leather and doo-rags and quickly felt right at home. There was a fixed menu with just two choices for the day, chicken or beef but WOW! the most delicious Sunday home cookin' I've had in a long time. I ate everything on my plate and even ordered dessert... Home made blackberry pie. If you ever get anywhere near Carmi you have to stop at Family...

He checked on us regularly to see if we needed a refill on our drinks. My husband and I both had baked ham. I had mashed potatoes with turkey gravy, green beans and homemade bread. My husband had mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, dressing and homemade bread. They offered homemade pie, cherry, pumpkin & pecan. Although they looked delicious, we were full after our meal.
