We stay in Bethlehem a few times a year for a long weekend and always want to try new places. The reviews on this place talked about homemade foods and they were all pretty positive. I ordered the shrimp scampi and my boyfriend ordered the turkey dinner and a garlic bread appetizer. We called it in and were told 20-25 minutes. We got there in almost 20 minutes and there was a couple in front of us at the window. There was a girl at the counter that seemed very overwhelmed. She kept talking to people at a picnic table that was seated already and asked them to come up and pay, then they sat down, then she called them over again to give them the beer they ordered. Theeeen she finally took about 6 minutes to take the order of the people in front of us. She kept running back and forth to the back. So, after 26 minutes of waiting in line she finally got to us and we told her our name and she got our food. She started opening it and said she just wanted to see if it was the correct order. She says "OK so u ordered the garlic bread with gravy"... we were so confused, we said we ordered more than that. We were so frustrated and hangry we said whatever and went home. His turkey was so rubbery, it was like the gelatin skinless turkey from the deli but cut thick. It was not homemade at all. The stuffing had no texture. It was a pile of mush. The asparagus was only tender on the leafy end and uncooked on the other. My scampi was good. It had the little frozen baby shrimp, not the larger ones. So, he tossed his dinner in the woods for the wildlife and made himself breakfast for dinner. Sorry Munroes.. bad...
Read moreI’ve wanted to stop here for awhile now and this morning I finally did! Munroe’s Family Restaurant in Coo’s County, rt 3 near Twin Mountains! First, Wednesday morning at 9:00 am they’re busy, like full busy! I make my way in anyway and sit at the counter. With out a blink a server behind the counter appears and with a smile asks me how I’m doing and if I want something to drink, and coffee it is! The menu must be four laminated pages and it’s a lot,.. a real lot and somehow I know every meal listed is someone’s old favorite. In only a few minutes she took my order, it’s a breakfast, lunch restaurant so I’m doing Eggs Bennie home made Corn beef hash , sausage links and a Milk. Every table was full here with two servers on, so I expected it to be a while,.. it really wasn’t! Delivered again with a kind smile, genuinely nice! It was perfect. Two poached eggs, Hollandaise sauce, hot! Eggs sunny runny, English muffin toasted perfectly, crispy and not soggy,.. this plate probably didn’t sit for one minute before it was served. The Corn Beef Hash,… not minced ( I love canned CBH!) chopped, great mix and definitely made in house. You can tell because there’s a little fat, it’s delicious! The Corn beef had tiny burnt ends, great texture and wonderful blend herbs and spices,.. oooo, lol! It was so good! And sausage links, kinda large and cooked perfectly. The cold milk in a handle thick glass jar, keeping it cold! Yup, breakfast,.. done Down Home. Great service, friendly and prompt. My only regret, I hadn’t gone...
Read moreWe are the traveling Motor Coach Gourmets. We frequent restaurants in many different cities and review them. Our ratings are as fair as we can make them as our reviews and yours can also impact a business owner. If we can’t give a 4 or 5 star review, or we don’t care for the service or food, we hold our review and give the place in question a 2nd and 3rd try. If after that, still not to our liking, then we rate the establishment.
There is nothing special about this place. It’s an outdated and old place with pretty good food. We just arrived to the area and needed a meal but just wanted something quick. Tracy ordered a cheese burger and I ordered a Philly cheese steak. It took a while to get our meal but when we did, it was fresh and hot. She enjoyed her hamburger as I also enjoyed my Philly cheese steak sandwich. It was actually very good.
We watched many meals come out of the kitchen and all looked well prepared and delicious. A simple place for good comfort food in a family setting. Obviously, everything is cooked to order; good old fashioned place.
Service was very good.
We would return. Overall a...
