I don't know if it's because I hadn't eaten anything all day or not, but I am absolutely impressed with this little place hidden away in an unassuming strip mall.
The food is made to order, and despite my hunger, I was content with the wait. I've gone about 18 hours without food. What was 10 more minutes? The lady who took my order was really nice, the decor is reminiscent of an abuela's living room, and there was ranchera playing in the background. I instantly felt at ease—I knew this place was legit. Everything is very affordably priced!
Since I hadn't eaten anything all day, I opted for tacos and a burrito. They came out PIPING hot, and looking absolutely beautiful. I didn't waste any time with frivolities before digging in...
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. ALL OF IT. The tacos were perfect! The yellow corn tortillas cooked to a light, pliable crisp. Pastor was tender and absolutely brimming with flavor with the pineapple on top giving it just the right amount of sweet, nuanced complexity to the overall flavor profile.
And then came the heavy hitter: The burrito. First of all, I'd like to mention that the flour tortilla was perfectly cooked here too! Thin, lightly crispy on the top and bottom, and served as a loving blanket to the ingredients it held. Steak, guacamole, refried beans, fresh lettuce and queso fresco. Lord have mercy... It was thick and densely-packed. And I loved every seductive bite.
This is my first time, and I absolutely adore this place. Everything tastes like home. Like a hug from your tia, or a kiss on the cheek from your madré after getting back home from college. That is what this food felt like like when it hit my soul. I will return. And I'll try the torta next time.
Muchas, muchas...
Read moreI stopped by here a little after 5:30 PM and the restaurant didn’t have too many people, but the previous time I did go, it was packed. I was greeted fairly quickly by the employee at the front and asked if I had any questions. I decided to dine in this time to see what the experience would be like. I ended up ordering a Pollo (Chicken) Sopes, Pollo (Chicken) Gordita, and 2 Pollo (Chicken) Street Tacos. The price is so good for the quality/quantity of the food I received. I wasn’t too sure about the drink so they mentioned they didn’t have any glasses of water and that they could give me a bottle. I deciding to order an Agua Frescas (specifically a Horchata). I was asked if I wanted ice and given the Horchata pretty quickly after ordering.
The horchata wasn’t too sweet, and there were notes of cinnamon present. I’ve usually done take out for Agua Frescas so I was surprised when the employee came by and did a refill for my horchata. The price of the horchata was $3.50, and in my books, that was worth it. I received the food about 10-15 minutes after, and you could tell that everything was fresh. I had a good amount of chicken and onions on top of the tacos and they were also very generous with the amount of meat for the sopes and gordita. The arepa was thick, fluffy, and warm. The green and red sauces were used for all 3 items and they made the dish much better.
I recommend you check them out; I’ll be back to try the tortas and some horchata...
Read moreI came in as a new customer and looked at their menu on the screen above the register and examined the prices thouroughly before placing my order. I READ $2.00 Corn and $2.50 for flour tacos. I only bought 2 flour chorizo with egg tacos and the bill was $6.50. I didn't realize the price being too high for tax until i left. I had them print my receipt out and remembered i had it in my pocket just to see they charged me 2 "taco special" for $6.00. Incorrect price it should've of been $5.00 before tax. I called them and they said that it's for the other list such as "STEAK" and this was a breakfast taco. That makes NOOOO sense whatsoever ever!!!! The breakfast tacos are'nt even normal size tacos, they are those tiny ones. It would make sense to make those $3.00 a piece if they were like burritos. This is a scam because i told her no where on the screen does it single out that breakfast tacos are a different price. She said it doesn't say it on their screen. So when people order they already have an answer to it when people catch they have been overpriced. If i was still there i would've called the police and made them give me my dollar back because its displayed as $2.50 on the screen and its not displayed anywhere $3.00 on the screen and it has to be honored....
