Great Food and Service but Payment and Billing System Needs an Update.

Mi Viejo is one of the only good restaurants in the Carrollton area aside from the fast food restaurants in the area, Whenever I'm in the Carrollton area I eat here at least once. So far on my visits, the food has been great and the service has been pretty good too. The only issue I face is when I have to get an itemized receipt for business expenses. On my last visit, I asked for an itemized receipt right when I sat down and the server came over. The server assured me that he could do it as I have had this issue on all of my previous visits. Once I ate my delicious perfectly made meal, I again asked for an itemized receipt. The server disappeared for over ten minutes and I had to go to the counter. At the counter they gave me a tiny receipt to show I paid and tipped but no itemized receipt. Again the person at the counter disappeared for another ten minutes as I guess they thought I would just go away. Finally, a manager came out and redid my whole bill and gave me a printed receipt with separate charges for what I ordered but no item description. I guess this is the best that they can do. I do recommend they modernize their POS as since there are several industries in the area, I can't be the only person who has to submit receipts for business expenses. Aside from these ongoing issues, the food is always on point and servers do the...
Read moreSo we spent a couple of nights in Carrollton KY while viewing potential retirement properties. The nice lady who checked us in at our hotel steered us away from a nearby Mexican chain restaurant and instead recommended Mi Viejo ('old man' in spanish) just a short distance up the highway. So glad we took her advice! They boasted a very comprehensive menu which included some stateside fare as well. I started our experience with the Mi Viejo dip from the appetizer section which is prepared with queso, chorizo, chicken, spinach, and either jalapeños or habeneros. I elected the habenero addition which is in no way for the faint of heart, but so delicious that I couldn't stop eating it despite the sweat it brought forth. My entrée selection was the prime rib fajitas (prepared medium rare) and my wife chose a mixed fajita dish combining chicken, shrimp, and beef. Both were exploding with flavor in every bite. I sampled one traditional crunchy taco, because who wouldn't, and was very pleased with the seasoned beef they prepared for that as well. The bar drinks were well made and to proper taste. We took some of our dip, the made on site chips, and a little of the leftover fajitas home for our son in law to try (he is Mexican born) and he was very impressed as well. The pricing was very fair for the whole meal which is always an added bonus. Should one find themselves passing through the area, I highly recommend...

Mi Viejo has become one of our go-to spots here in Carrollton — and let’s be honest, there aren’t a ton of local options, so finding a place like this just 5 minutes from home feels like a win!
It’s a Mexican buffet, but what makes it special is how buildable everything is. You’re not stuck with set combos — you can literally piece together anything you’re craving, from traditional plates to wild food mashups. Want tacos, rice, and a pile of grilled veggies? Go for it. Want to wrap a quesadilla around your fajitas and top it with salsa and cheese sauce? Totally doable.
It’s also fast, which we love — you’re in and out with a full belly in no time, and the prices are super reasonable. The place always feels casual and easy, perfect for a weeknight meal or last-minute fix when you don’t want to cook.
Definitely worth checking out if you’re nearby and want something tasty, quick, and flexible. Mi Viejo keeps it simple, but that’s exactly...
