Response for owner. Update
Thank you for your response, but Iād like to clarify a few points. The issue isnāt just about encountering nude individualsāitās about the inappropriate and potentially unlawful nature of this behavior in a shared space, especially with minors present. Your facility was aware that children would be attending, yet no prior warning was given about the nudity.
As for the time we spent there, we didnāt see naked individuals immediately upon arrival. Once we did, we left shortly after and even reported this to the receptionist. The time spent in your facility is irrelevant to the core concern, which is the lack of transparency about policies and ensuring a truly family-friendly environment.
Additionally, public nudity in shared spaces near minors can raise legal concerns in Texas, where such behavior may be deemed inappropriate or even illegal depending on the circumstances. I hope this feedback is taken seriously to improve communication and prevent similar incidents in the future.
Review:
I recently visited RUSSIAN BANYA to celebrate my dadās birthday. Heās a big fan of Russian banya, so I arranged a group experience for six people, including two children. Unfortunately, the experience was EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE and disappointing due to a lack of communication about the environment.
WE were shocked to see adults walking around fully naked in shared areas. One man removed his robe and walked to the shower in full view, and later, a woman also appeared completely nude. This was deeply inappropriate, especially with children present.
When I raised this concern with the receptionist, I was told that this was āabsolutely normal.ā However, I had explicitly mentioned in my booking messages that two kids would be part of our group. At the very least, I expected a warning about the nudity policy so I could make an informed decision.
As a family with both Russian and American backgrounds, we are familiar with banya culture. However, we have never encountered a situation where people walk around naked in mixed-gender areas, especially near minors. This lack of transparency made the experience embarrassing and uncomfortable for everyone, including my husband, who was trying banya for the first time.
I strongly believe the business should notify guests about their policies regarding nudity, particularly when children are involved. This would prevent others from having similarly upsetting experiences.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been going to the Russian Banya occasionally for about a year now- I have always enjoyed it there. I think some of the negative reviews may be from people with different expectations- this is a clean, pleasant, relaxed place to hang out with friends or family. It's not fancy- this is not the Red Door or the Crescent, and the service is fine- they won't fawn all over you like at the expensive places but I don't expect that because this is meant to be a different type of experience.
I have had the food (Russian & various regional cuisine) which is tasty & satisfying, used the banya (Russian cedar sauna), steam room, and cold plunge, and have used massage & facial services.Call ahead to schedule any massages & facials; ask for Jacob for a great deep massage. Stephanie does the facials etc; she uses all organic products & I enjoy visiting with her- she has a separate number for scheduling which Tony or the other employees can give you. Tony is the owner & he will tour the facility with you & explain the banya concept if you are new.
If you want to try something off the beaten path (for those of us who aren't Russian) that is a great value, try the banya. I have taken my children (ages 9 & 12) & they love it- we hang out, eat, and go in & out of the sauna, steam rooms, and cold plunge. You can get massages or treatments for the kids as well- you will sit in the room with them to chaperone.
DO: Call Ahead!- that way you have your appointments & will know if anything is unavailable or opening/closing times are different that day. They always remind me about robes/towels,etc- so no surprises. Bring a cotton robe or use one of theirs for $3. If you're modest, bring a beach towel or swimsuit. Bring flip flops, and your hair products. Bring a book or electronics to hang out & relax in between trips to the sauna. You can BYOB if you wish!
DON'T: Expect this to be a high-end or corporate/chain spa experience. It's like going to hang out & eat with a Russian friend who happens to have sauna facilities, not a day of pampering fit for a celebrity...
Take some time out, take your watch off, and relax. hang with your family or friends, eat,...

SAUNA ROOMS:
There are three sauna rooms, but one is broken. The dry Finnish room at 199° and up to 10% humidity hasn't been working in awhile.
The wet room is super steamy. I don't see it on their website, but it is very humid. So steamy you can't really see when you're sitting.
The hot room is heated up to 195° with 50% humidity and has multiple tiers of seating. The higher up you sit the hotter it is in the room. The lower you sit the cooler it is. We got to experience a free group aromatherapy session at 3pm in the hot room. Jackson stood in the middle of the hot room and fanned three rounds of essential oils on all of us. It was HOT, but smelled good. We only made it through 2.5 rounds.
