TLDR: THIS PLACE GAVE MY FAMILY FOOD POISONING AND THE WAIT STAFF WAS EXTREMELY RUDE TO MY GRIEVING FAMILY. DO NOT EAT HERE FOR YOUR SAFETY.
After the death of a loved one who was local to the area my family and I went to this restaurant. They were called the week before and told that we would be having a party of about 20 people after the funeral.
When we arrived they said they didnât have our reservation but that we could all seat ourselves. We managed to find two empty bigger tables and even though they were in different areas of the restaurant we were fine with that arrangement.
We all waited about 25 minutes before the server took our drink orders and at that time we all ordered our appetizers as well. We understood that as a large party on a Saturday afternoon spread out across the restaurant that we may be waiting a while and again we were fine with that.
After getting our drinks we didnât see the server again for about an hour and when she did appear she hastily tossed our appetizers onto the table and begrudgingly poured some ranch into some dishes. We told her thank you but she ignored us and rushed off and again that was fine we understood that it was a busy Saturday afternoon.
We were finally able to order food about 30 minutes after that so we are an hour and a half in and finally we get to order food. We wait another hour and finally the food arrives. When it does the server again throws our plates down in front of us and runs off without a single word. Again we understood. After a minute or so I inspected my food and realized it was made incorrectly and that I wasnât given the side I ordered. It wouldnât have been a big deal but it had been a long day with the funeral and all so I flagged the server back down and let her know what was wrong and sent my food back to be corrected. The server yanked my plate from my hand and made a quick comment under her breath.
About a minute later the server returned and slammed my side and my food back down in front of me and walked away. When I looked at my plate my sandwich was what I could only describe as assaulted. It looked like the server had punched and twisted her fingers into my food in an insane rage. Iâm so serious I felt bad for the food sitting in front of me. At this point what I was given looked inedible. I flagged the server down again and asked for a manger. She sneered and tried to hand me a menu so I repeated myself and asked for her boss. She rolled her eyes and walked away.
About 20 minutes later the manager appears and I will give her the brownie points she deserves. She was kind and understanding and admitted the food didnât look acceptable. I explained that they knew we were all here from a funeral and as much as I understood that it was a busy afternoon we still deserved to be treated well. The manager took my food off the bill and offered something different but after waiting 3 hours on my first plate I simply said no but that I needed a to go box to feed my food to my dog as I hate being wasteful.
The manager obliged and all shouldâve been made well. However the trouble started the next day. My entire family except for myself got the most gut wrenching food poisoning theyâd ever had in their life. We concluded since I was the only one who didnât eat anything that this restaurant mustâve given them the food poisoning. My wife is currently in the hospital on IV fluids because of this place. Itâs hard enough having to mourn the loss of a loved one but Welches made sure we would all be sick as dogs while they were at it.
I could not be more disappointed in a place that is in such a beautiful location and advertises itself as a small business mom and pop kind of place but then treats a grieving family like this. I hope my familyâs experience was a one off but I get the feeling it wasnât. Please donât eat here unless you want to clean out your entire large intestine...
Read moreThis restaurant is truly a find. We literally stumbled into it, driving-wise, while driving around town, and decided to give it a try. Coming into the restaurant, you are reminded of the small mom and pop restaurants of years ago, which is a good thing, as everything was tastefully done and was visually appealing as well. When you go just a little further, though, you feel as if you have stepped into another world, there is a rather spacious dining area that has very large picture windows overlooking the river....... The view is breathtaking in is beauty and is worth the trip and visit alone. Truly a picturesque view, and.... This place has character. But, enough about the scenery, there's good food waiting as well here. The menu is not cluttered, as so many places seem to do, but rather concentrating on its strengths. There is a good selection of sandwiches and appetizers to choose from. Lisa had a cheeseburger and fries with Cole slaw and I had a JR Special (burger) with onion rings. The food came out in it's time (meaning that they take the time to do it rightâșïž), and we were not disappointed at all. Both of our burgers were done nicely and had just the right balance of crisp and juiciness to them as well as flavourful. The fries were very good and the onion rings were as well. The cole slaw was creamy and very tasty, making a nice compliment to the meal. And this is a place where you could have a meal of burgers and fries just as much as a sit down dinner (spoiler - the main reason that we did order the burgers, etc. Was that we showed up about 45 minutes before closing, were still driving, and did not want to go too heavy). Also, the staff were very friendly and helpful as well. The price is definitely very budget friendly, and for the quality, definitely a great deal. Added together, you get a fantastic dining experience with unmatched river views at a great price. Truly a gem and a place worth making a trip to or as a stop on your trip. You...
Read moreMy wife and I took a beautiful fall drive to Carrollton just to enjoy the landscape of this small town. We found this restaurant from a recommendation on Google, and we love Mom and Pops eateries. The restaurant was low-key nothing fancy but a gorgeous panoramic view of the Ohio River. That's where the charm ended. I ordered a fish sandwich garnished with onions and cheese with onion rings and my wife ordered fried chicken. I guarantee that the cooks made my order 1st as after about 17 minutes of waiting our food arrived. My wife's chicken was hot and fresh, my onion rings were iced cold, my sandwich had no onions or cheese and it was like warm. I had to find the server to tell her about my food quality, she seemed overwhelmed. When I got my food back, my fish sandwich was still luke warm, there was a cold slice of cheese on the sandwich not even melted and the onion rings were microwaved and crusty. As much as food costs in general have skyrocketed, to pay $30 for cold and blah food was a disappointment. We don't complain, we try and make the best out of life but today wasn't a good experience by any means. When paying our bill, the lady at the counter didn't even ask how our meal our service was, which was poor indeed. But the river view...
