LA Santaneca — Restaurant in Carson City

Our order through grubhub was incorrect, though in the long run I suppose we didn't mind so much as we found half the food inedible and thankfully grubhub refunded easily for our shorted food. We ordered a plato tipico, some extra puuosas and an extra order of empanadas. The empanadas were awful, somehow sweet and sour at the same time, we ordered the leche version. The pastelito was greasy. The enchilada was flavorless without the sauce and the sauce was oddly sweet. We tried 3 types of pupusa, the one that came with the order (bean I think) and a cheese and a carne asada. They were all so bland they were basically interchangeable. The yuca was OK, except they covered it in what seemed to be boiled lard. Gross. Going by my taste buds alone, this place hardly deserves one star, however, I am not familiar with Salvadorean food and perhaps this is as good as it gets, so I was planning on giving 3 stars. Want to know one of Carson City's local hidden gems...then walk in to be greeted by La Santaneca's warm, friendly owner for wonderful service and delicious housemade Pupusas, Empanada and El Salvadorian food that will absolutely be daBOMB!!

On several occasions we have ordered: Pupusas Locas (this is the super, super LARGE one) w/Cheese, beans, pork, zucchini and jalapeno and the Empanadas stuffed beyond with ground beef both are absolutely deLISH!! don't forget the pickled slaw and in-house hot sauce to top these off yummyyyy!! We also LOVE, love the smaller Pupusas: Cheese, Chicken & jalapenos; Cheese, Pork & Loroco; Cheese & Shrimp ~ yummyyy!! Shrimp Cocktail is INCREDIBLE, large enough for two and OMTasty!!

AMAZING DELICIOUS SO GOOD! Alright I'm pregnant I needed pupusas so bad, these fly to me on their little angel wings and beckon to me to eat them. The lady was sweet and i couldn't have been there for more then 10 mayyyybe 15 minutes and I got three fantastic little piping hot pupusas in my lap, I recommend asking for the extra spicy salsa, I told her I wanted to cry from the salsa and she heard me loud and clear. Tears streaming down my face don't know if it was the spice or how delicious they were but I know where my pupusa spot is now, errybody knows nevada is real hit or miss with worth while Salvador food. WE FOUND THE HIT FOLKS BEST PUPUSAS IVE EVER HAD IN NEVADA AND THEY GOT ME HOOKED BABY, they got the baby hooked too so my hands are tied have to come back...
