Kilgore's Restaurant — Restaurant in Carthage

This restaurant is an amazing place to stop and enjoy new food and different plates. We had fourteen people in our Party and the restaurant was able to seat us in a reasonable amount of time. We all ordered different dishes during a very busy time . All dishes were correct and were cooked to perfection. We had everything from mozzarella sticks to chicken tenders to shrimp. The house salads were fresh, crisp and wonderful. The loaded baked potatoes were delicious. The portions were plentiful. The hushpuppies....wow. deep fried to perfection. Crisp and light. I just love them. Can't get enough. The restaurant and bathrooms were clean and neat. The variety of foods was enough to make great food selections. The Waitresses were working hard to handle the fully packed restaurant.And I might add that they were doing an astounding job. I love going to this restaurant when I am in town. And I will always take my entire family to enjoy the great tasting food and the superior customer service. I can't say enough about how good this family owned business is. They are amazing. I highly recommend this place for anyone that wants to enjoy a night out on the town and not pay an arm and leg for good food and great service. My family and I will be a repeat customer from now on. We read the reviews, both good and bad, and decided to try it out. When we entered we got a lot of blank stares while we stood and waited to be seated. Turns out we were supposed to seat ourselves. It would be helpful to have a sign stating “Please seat yourself”. The greeting from the waitress was immediate and we received our drinks quickly. We both ordered a side salad as part of our meal but as the minutes ticked by we became worried we had been forgotten. We were. We asked the waitress if we could receive our salads and she apologized saying that she forgot. No big deal, it happens. The issue we had, however, is that 3 minutes after we received our salads, we received our main dishes (fried chicken for me, cheeseburger for him). We finished our salads and by the time we began eating our entrees they were cold. Very cold. The unfortunate thing is that it doesn’t matter how good the food is, if it’s cold it’s not enjoyable. Wanted a “real meal” tonight instead of one of the few fast food places we have in this small town. It was busy and there were people ourside.. figured they were waiting so I went inside and stood while a girl was on her phone at the register hoping she’d say something to me so I could just have an order to go. Mind you this was around 539 pm. Customer that has finished eating with a male came up to the register and girl was still on phone doing what ever. I’m standing to the left and the woman comes up in front of her and she starts to speak to her and take her payment. I’m like ughhh hello I was here first and she just looks at me. They lost a potential customer tonight. I’m sure many people won’t care and may read this but continue to go to this establishment. All I’m saying is that as a customer I won’t be ignored and I said I would never go back. I don’t like being ignored and especially overlooked when you knew I was there to begin with.
