Unfortunately we found not one but TWO pieces of white plastic (looked like it was a cap from a bottle) in our Caesar salad. My dad was chewing and he pulls out a BIG white chunk of plastic. As we alert the server, who then gets the manger, my dad was still kind of taking bites from his plate. As the manager comes over my dad bites down on another piece of white plastic. We are glad he didn’t choke or cut his gums or crack a tooth. Furthermore I’m so glad my kids didn’t get the food with the plastic because that could have easily been an emergency room visit.
The server was very apologetic and none of this was his fault. We understand mistakes happen but it’s the way the situation was handled that made this worse. The manager did not go out of his way to reassure us that this would be addressed with the kitchen or that he was taking this seriously. He was very nonchalant and just said “I’ll take it off your bill.” Personally we wanted to know that the restaurant would immediately figure out what the hell my dad almost swallowed twice and take action. Instead the manager quickly took the plates away and left. He never offered anything else. No dessert, no hey let me refill those drinks, is there anything I can do ? NOTHING. His job is to make sure people have a good experience and if that doesn’t happen then it’s managements responsibility to make it right.
The food: Salmon was cooked great and it was tasty. Catch of the day was terrible. It was dry and rubbery. Caesar salad was delicious and fresh UNTIL WE FOUND WHITE PLASTIC IN IT. Calamari was ok. Brownie desert was dry and not even served warm …like HELLLLO warm up the brownie.
We paid $158 plus tip and that’s with the Caesar being taken off. So very $$$ food for a very poor experience. The server was nice and tried his best ! He gets an A+. Manger needs some retraining for sure. He gets a D. Kitchen staff need to WAKE UP. They get an C-. Overall underwhelming experience and we won’t be dining here again.
PS: check your food for plastic if you eat here. Doesn’t hurt to just examine the food...
Read moreThe seafood was fantastic and flavorful, high class staff and timely food service. I went to Cape Fear for the first time yesterday. I was on and off the fence for going because I couldn't tell if it was another chain company, but definitely glad I went. I had made a reservation easily through a Google maps link, which I highly recommend since it was busy on a Monday night. I was seated quickly. I found the atmosphere to have a by the sea Cape cod feel and the staff dressed and acted like you were in an upscale restaurant. I was given quick attention for drinks and able to order after receiving them.
I went with the sweet and spicy shrimp appetizer, which was well balanced with the sweet and spice, maybe could have been slightly spicier for me, but all a good balance of sauce to shrimp. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, no fishy taste, no rubberiness.
For the main course, I was offered the catch of the day which was salmon with risotto and asparagus. Again, perfectly cooked medium salmon, crisp bottom, great seasoning and paired well with the risotto, which paired well with the asparagus. It came out just as my appetizer was finished, which was great.
For dessert, I tried the creme brulee. It was good, but for my taste, the caramelized sugar was a little too bitter and the texture was slightly more towards tapioca pudding than the creamy. Still very good though.
My drink was kept filled and staff was attentive and friendly...
Read moreFirst time dining at this location and I must say that I was less than impressed. I made a reservation but when I arrived, I was surprised to see that the restaurant was not crowded given the availability of time slots when booking. Ordered the lobster bisque and clam chowder and that was a big disappointment. Both bowls were way too salty and had a weird taste. Not a family flavor with these types of soups. Second, the floumder lacked flavor and was quite tasteless compared to the same dish ordered at the other two Raleigh locations. The scallops were different sizes with some pieces that were large, some small and others bite size. The waitress stated that “they probably fell apart when cooking” which seems odd and the first time I’ve ever heard or seen anything like this from any CF dining experience. Last but not least, the Hush Puppies were burnt and hard. The server brought out new ones and they were the same. With the second batch, she attempted to tell us that this was the way they’re prepared. Well maybe at this location, but not at the other locations I frequently dine at. Overall, the staff was nice but the food at this location was disappointing. Heading back to my usual...
