My spouse and I are always on the lookout for good Korean style chicken wherever we travel and we stumbled upon this location when we went to HMart. It's located in a food court along with the other wonderful homecooked food options.
With that in mind, we expected the same amount of time food would be ready. The first time we went, the staff said they were on a 30min break (1:30pm) while other stalls were open but no biggie, will just come back the next day to give em a try.
We came back to the same HMart the next day to and waited for Chicken Bee to open at 11. When they opened, we were first to order and were told that it will take 15-20 minutes, to which we agreed to wait but honestly thought it was absurd not to have anything readily available. And anyway, we would be first to receive the order.
25 minutes in, the first batch of orders were coming out but ours wasn't included. Strange, did our 10pc honey garlic take longer than the other two people who came after we placed the order? Maybe something extra needed to be done? Nonetheless, it was quite unacceptable at that point to be waiting for that long already, let alone other people getting their orders ahead of ours. We had kids with us but it was great that our kids didn't have to wait because they ordered curry katsu and tangsuyuk from the other stalls and guess what, those took only 5min tops to get their orders. Something for Chicken Bee to look at. Their placement at the foodcourt will just give them a bad look because the expectation will always be the service. People will not be staying inside an HMart to wait on them. Nope.
Also, they don't provide plates which is really laughable because even to-go places provide that, not even napkins or wipes.
For a wait more than 30 minutes (on opening), you'd expect something really good, but their chicken lacked flavor. The outer breading and honey coating tasted ok but the chicken was just tasteless. It was tolerable, but not as enjoyable as the wait. It was too late for me to check reviews on google only to find the same disappointment. Never again. Will stick to CM chicken, at least they provided sides and even extra chicken at...
Read moreOrdered the half chicken medium spicy. There’s a 15 minute wait which I didn’t mind because it fresh, hot and juicy but cut into many pieces that did NOT make up a half chicken (30 years experience in restaurants). Food court atmosphere with tables that you have to clean yourself. The actual spot is cluttered with paper supplies and other items. The chicken was nicely fried but the sauce was super sweet and sticky which was disappointing to all of us. MAYBE I’d order it plain if there’s a next time but $16 for “half” a chicken dunked in Korean caramel isn’t making...
Read moreIt's just ok- disappointing. I wouldn't get the fried chicken again-- after all the hype I've heard about Korean fried chicken, this was a letdown, as KFC & Popeyes taste better. I went there a little after 4pm on a weekday, when there weren't any other customers, yet still had to wait 25 minutes & go back to inquire before I got my order. Maybe one day, I'll try the tenders with a sauce, but the Love Bao Taiwanese place next to them has amazing chicken filet platters. A friend had also said this place was just ok, nothing to get...
