Okay, so - the food is good. But the PRICES are crazy and so here's my synopsis.
Calzone - it's a decent calzone but it's priced so high that to add 2-3 toppings puts you at something like $19
Pizza- good chewy NYC style. Kinda expensive. Probably the best thing they serve is the Pizza. There is a HUGE problem when ordering online however, in that they charge you the same price per topping for a 14" Pizza and an 18" Pizza. Obviously the 14" price should be lower, as not as much product is used. Also, the price per topping is high. Some items are as much as $6ea. Even just to have onions added is $3.50
Chicken Strips: Charging $8.50 for 4 chicken strips which are obviously just frozen strips put in a deep fryer.
Philly egg rolls- they were decent but not as good as I was expecting. Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood.
Penne alla vodka with chicken: OH man. This dish is so overpriced. When given a chicken add on this dish costs over $20 and is just not up to quality. There was hardly any chicken and the sauce was not a real alla vodka sauce - it lacked depth of flavor. This is the biggest disappointment I've had here as far as cost meets quality.
Here's the kicker that has set me off and made me question existence:*
LASANGA: This has been my go to dish. I've ordered it 4 times. At first it was amazing. Great portion size and quality. However, I ordered it a few weeks ago for the 3rd time and noticed that there was basically ZERO filling inside the lasagna. Literally just noodles stacked on top of each other. I decided maybe it was a fluke and ordered it again today. I was excited and hungry and opened up my lasagna only to find that the portion size had been CUT IN HALF and yet they are charging the same price. I order this dish because of the good portion size so to find out they have replaced this with one little strip of lasagna is super disappointing. Also, I go to eat the lasagna and once again there is virtually NOTHING between the slabs of pasta (see picture). This leaves me to believe that in order to cut costs they have decided to make lasagna with no filling and only cheese on the top, and also cut portion size in half. This is not good business practice.
At first I was loving Johnny's, but the prices are just too high and quality inconsistent. If you are thinking of ordering I recommend their lovely NYC style crust. Even though the pizza is relatively pricy, it's still the best...

I've looked for flaws in this place and cant seem to find one. From the food, all the way to the overall cleanliness of the place, this is the best NY Pizza spot in the triangle and maybe all of NC.
I have yet to try the deep dish crusts they offer, but for the NY style pizzas and slices, Johnny's is the closest I've found to what I've had up North. The grinders are unreal, had both the Italian and Chicken Parm within the past few times I've visited, both perfect. Antipasto salad was huge, refreshing and delicious. The wings I've had were meaty and the buffalo style sauces were just like home. Garlic knots were like they're supposed to be garlicky, buttery, chewy and cheesy.
The manager the first day I went in was happy to help with any questions I had and was very knowledgeable of the menu. He provided a menu and set of coupons for my next return, I pointed out that I didn't really need the coupons since they're geared more towards bigger ticket items ($$$) and before I could exit out the door he had a $5 dollar gift certificate towards my next order and called it my own little "personalized coupon." I should also mention that every time I've visited now, he has addressed me by name and have noticed that he knows/treats a lot of his customers the same way. It also seems that most of the staff follows the same peak of customer service
For your standard NY Pizza Joint, I've yet to experience perfection, but this place is the closest to it I've...
Read moreThe place is nice, and the service was great...but I ordered the chicago style pizza reallllly wanting a chicago style pizza, and instead what I got was a very basic thicker pan crust pizza with a little extra cheese and extra sauce on top.
However it was in no uncertain terms NOT a real Chicago style pizza at all if youre looking for that. It eally was just a slightly bigger regular pan style pizza, and as such it was very very disappointing.
It was also a very very bland pizza as well, like I would never ever order it again even knowing it to be a regular pan pizza because it just had nothing special about it whatsoever and the crust was chewy and kind of weird.
I didnt get any additional toppings on it so I cant judge their quality or taste of those but the dough and sauce and cheese combo all were extremely forgettable.
The "chicago" pizza itself gets a 1, but the place itself and people we're nice and I think their thinner or regular crust version pizza with toppings would probably actually be a lot better and more reasonable for their price so I gave it a 3 overall because I dont want to scare people off from trying their regular pizzas which would seem to be a lot better.
Just definitely dont get the chicago style is...
