★★★★★ La Cocina: Fueling the Volleyball Vibes in Town! Yesterday, we rolled into town for the Volleyball State Championship playoffs—spikes flying, crowds roaring, and our team’s energy on fire. But after the dust settled (and the cheers faded), we needed a spot to celebrate (or commiserate) with some serious flavor. Enter La Cocina, Grok’s spot-on rec that turned our post-game hunger into a highlight reel of its own. Apps that ace the serve: Those complimentary chips, frijoles, and salsa hit the table warm and addictive, like the perfect rally starter. Then the Smokey Verde Salsa dove in—smoky depth, zesty kick, just enough heat to match the playoff intensity. Boom: tone set, appetites revved. Julian, the all-star server: In a weekend of MVPs on the court, our waiter Julian stole the show off it. Friendly vibes that felt like a teammate’s high-five, efficient moves faster than a quick block, and attentive without a single net violation. He nailed every rec and kept the refills flowing—pure gold. Mains that score big: • Steak Fajitas – sizzling like a championship point, with juicy steak and crisp veggies stealing the set. • Carne Asada Fries – a towering, cheesy, guac-loaded beast that buried our hunger 3-0. • Steak Tacos & Asada Tacos – street-style perfection, tender and explosive, devoured quicker than a libero’s dig. • Smothered Steak Burrito – saucy, stuffed, and satisfying, like wrapping up a tournament win in foil. We closed out strong with the Fried Ice Cream with Churro Sticks—crispy, creamy, cinnamon-sugared bliss that had us spiking forks left and right. (Split it if you’re sharing the court; hoard it if you’re going solo.) Zero regrets on the food, but yeah—wish we’d snapped pics amid the feast frenzy. Next playoff run (or just next town trip), we’re doubling down: reservations locked, Julian requested, and camera charged. La Cocina, you served up the ultimate off-court win. Grateful for the volleyball thrills and this gem—shoutout to Grok for the assist! 🏐🌮 Who’s joining us...

First time ever to have a chili rellenos with no cheese in it. Not good. I mentioned it and was told they had a new supplier. They are not made from scratch then, more points off. Many of the combos include "Fried taco". I opted for this with beef. It came out as a deep fried flour shell with a substantial amount of ground beef (known as beef crumble in the industry), very little cheese and lettuce. Not very good, but edible for the most part. I was with my wife and mother. The wife had the Surf and Turf Fajitas, which comes either full or half size. Oddly, the half size does not come sizzling. She opted for the sizzling. I can't imagine what the half size would come out like...I guess not sizzling. She liked it, but I don't know how they could do this wrong. Portion was adequate. Mom ordered Flautas. She said they were very good and the portion was generous. The chips and salsa were good, but the chips were certainly out of a bag and not hot. They served refried beans with the salsa. Overall, I may return for something besides Chilli Rellenos, but I will try other Mexican in town before I come back. Also, owner/management, if you're reading this, please get filters for your water! The tap water and sodas...

La Cocina has been our go-to restaurant for over 20 years. We don't eat there out of some sense of nostalgia. We find ourselves there often because they consistently serve up the best food each and every time, with friendly service in a comfortable setting.

When I go to a restaurant, I expect solid service and good food but what I really want is great service and great food. If I loved the fajitas last time, I want to love them this time and if the street tacos were great a month ago, I want them to be great again next time. It's a tough standard but somehow Jim and his crew do it. I've eaten there countless times, and every time, you know you're going to get excellent food delivered with a smile.

I'm looking forward to the move to the new location, which will give them more opportunity to showcase the dedication and care they put into their food and the experience they provide their customers.

La Cocina is the best Mexican you'll run across....

First the good part. Great chips and salsa. The restaurant has colorful interior design and lighting. I’m shocked on how great the reviews are here…The bad part, the food is so bad. The fried taco has dry, unseasoned ground beef. The cheese enchilada w/ red sauce is cheap cheese and sauce from a can. They give you a strange little plastic cup of cheese as a side too, very strange. The plates are cold along with the food. We’ve tried eating there twice now, paying over $60 for lunch and felt totally ripped off. Cheap, canned queso with consistency of gas-station nacho cheese, Sams Club corn tortillas, it seems like nothing they make is authentic. I feel bad for the customer base and especially the servers who rely on return business. I’ll only ever go back for the chips and margaritas, but as for a meal, I’ll save my hard earned money. Honest review and I hope they strive to do better over the years, if they survive…

I ordered this off of a brand new menu given to me at hotel next door. No phone number printed on the menu, so I Google it. Socal carneasada fries. $11.99. Seems fair. I order from polite staff and add a coke. $18 +change. I correct the price, quoting their own menu. Im put on hold and told its now $14+. Whatever, been going since 7am. It's 9pm. I cancel the drink, and pick up. The meat is more rubber and coated in a ton of salt- so much I can't eat it. The quality is sub par at best. The kicker is I would have eaten there 2 or 3 more times due to location. I was so hungry :(

Went to the new location after work on a Saturday evening. My wife and I were sat right away. The service was great and attentive. The dining room seems a bit small but seems to fit plenty of patrons. The bar is bright and colorful and the overall atmosphere is great. The food came out hot. Maybe a bit too hot as I got the fajitas and the skillet ended up burning the onion and pepper mix. My wife got the carne asada and this was pretty flavorful. Location is great. Overall it was a good experience and we will be back.
