Castleton Pizza Place & Deli — Restaurant in Castleton

Been coming here for over 25 years now. Still the same great pizza and subs! I prefer cabbage over lettuce and I can't get that everywhere! Always a pleasant experience.

Update* Tonight was different. Ordered chicken tenders and three grinders. Very tall blonde girl wearing a winter cap was my server, she's been rude in the past. But this takes the cake. Mind you she is wearing gloves the entire time. How long she's been wearing those same gloves is unknown. She grabs the frozen tenders and puts them in the fryer, cross contaminating every single thing she touches including the fryer handle. Comes over with my toasted bread with those same dirty gloves on! And proceeds to start taking veggies out for me. I said, wait can you please change your gloves?! She says "huh", and I repeated can you please change your dirty gloves that you just picked up frozen chicken tenders with and put into the fryer? I would really rather you not touch my sandwich meat and veggies with those same gloves. So she does and makes my order. Mind you there are 3 people behind me waiting. Without skipping a beat or changing her gloves she starts taking their orders. I love the bread from here and typically any food I order, but I will be hesitant about coming here in the future....

We’ve been so patient with their staffing issues but I think tonight was the end. Simple order for 2 calzones completely fouled up. It’s been quite some time since our last order, because it was not ready well past the pickup time. That was after the order before that being “lost” and had to be made while I waited. They had it in the computer and took my payment, but no one made the order, thankfully it was just sandwiches and not a long wait. I’ve called in orders, and ordered online - neither works any better. Order takers don’t LISTEN, order tickets get lost. So disappointing and we’re just done. After latest screwup they offered a credit but we have little confidence that if we chose to use it that it will even be on record since the same employee took info and gave a verbal assurance. Still shaking my head that they can mess things up so many times in different ways. We’ll support other local restaurants- your loss...

This place just keeps getting worse and worse with the help they hire. I understand it’s hard to find people to work these days but there is absolutely ZERO quality control there. I asked for a high chair for my son and not only did they not bother looking for one in the deli area or the restaurant side but their excuse to me was it’s not really a kids place. It’s a FAMILY restaurant. You’re telling me that you don’t have high chairs? I don’t buy it.

Now the issue of the food. When you pay the prices they charge you expect them to at least TRY to pretend to make a half way decent sandwich. They took the meat out of the paper rolled up and left them rolled up on the sandwich and wrap with out separating or pulling apart the meat to put on the sandwich properly. It kinda sucked that we had to take apart our sandwiches and put them together so we could enjoy them. I used to...
