I brought out of state friends to Gideon Owen on a Monday evening for dinner. I chose Gideon Owen for their beautiful grounds and the atmosphere, which is simply wonderful. There were 8 guests at our table. The seats were directly in the sun and the table was a bit cramped. I did not say anything but did ask if my guests wanted to change tables. The waitress, Susan did not come over to our table for almost 12-15 minutes after being seated. My husband was getting ready to go ask if we had a waitress just as she was heading over. Three of us ordered the same entree of ravioli and they each looked different as some had spinach, one did not, 2 had tomatoes and another had none and they were cold. Not even room temperature. The ravioli's were stuck to the bottom of the dish because they had been sitting for so long. I spoke with the manager and she offered to give us a complimentary 1 dessert for the entire table to share and "discount" the 3 ravioli meals. The final bill was $622.73 and totally not worth anything we ate! Unfortunately, I will never support Gideon Owen nor will I ever recommend this restaurant to anyone we know...
July 29, 2025: Gideon Owen, I responded to your request to contact you directly and did so the very same day but have yet to hear back from you. I am not sure if your response was just to appease the readers to think that you are genuinely sorry and really wanted to discuss how you could improve. Word of mouth is the best form of publicity!
July 29, 2025 UPDATE: Tracy, Marketing Manager for Gideon Owen - Thank you for taking the time to respond to my review and for addressing my concerns. I truly appreciate your commitment to improving the dining experience and your generous offer to make things right. I am looking forward to giving Gideon Owen another chance and hope to have a more enjoyable visit next time....
Read moreWas a great experience overall. I did have to send my food back because it was cold as soon as I got it and I do not like cold cooked asparagus whatsoever, not to mention cold chicken. Everything else was good the service was ok. Our food was dropped off by food runners and so after I got my plate which was cold immediately we didn't see our server for like another 8 minutes until she came to check out how things were. After nibbling on the wife's meal a little bit I ended up just going with an appetizer of bang bang shrimp which were delicious. The drinks were great and not overly priced. The Italian gin and tonic hit the spot. Actually had a second. An amazing place to look around though there is a lot to take in. Looks like they are ramping up for outside service in the fall and winter with all the new glass enclosed greenhouse type units they had for people to eat in so they're increasing their outside capacity during inclement weather. For about an hour after we got there they had great cover band live music from a guy playing outside. Then it was just back to the regular recorded broadcast after he was done and got his food and was up out of there. For some reason all of the service staff in this place did not look very happy. Beautiful outside area though with all the flowers I believe a lot of them are hollyhocks mixed in with some roses. They do actually let you have glass when you are done eating and just walking around which is cool They don't treat you like babies and give you little plastic cups! Manager was definitely on his toes, he was taking care of everything from the bonfire outside to making brick oven pizzas, with a limp. Not sure what was going on there if he should be working or not maybe have a scooter, but it did look like he was wearing some kind of brace. Hope he...
Read moreIn this case, as many others have likely experienced, started with sitting at a outside bar that was relatively full, the female bar server passed us many times in the 10-15 minutes that we patiently waited, although no direct eye contact, we knew that she was aware we were there. I get it when times are busy and servers are tending to the busyness, but all it takes is one second, goodness she was right in front us mixing a drink, say something!!!!!! anything, like thanks for your patience I’ll be with you shortly or set a menu down before the customer and tell them I’ll be with you in minute. What makes matters worse is the fact that when they finally do speak it’s in a gruff not so nice way. I know there’s a labor shortage, but a little niceness goes a long way. Now, more disturbing is the food, my wife ordered the filet and it was weird, in taste, texture, temperature, and color, I truly believe that it was some type of processed substance, almost as if it were prepared in microwave, she complained of it being cold so another replacement was brought from the kitchen in a couple of minutes, which appeared odd as well. IT DID NOT TASTE LIKE A BEEF FILET; she tried the replacement and couldn’t eat it. My Walleye bites were good, however, for 17.00, it was a very small portion and whatever sauce they served it with was AWFULL! For the finale, as I was leaving and walking past the hostess stand, there were 4 girls chit chatting and using their devises, as I walked by, not a word, no thank for dining with us or have a nice evening, I exited the restaurant and had to turn around and go back to take a picture, the forth girl was just walking away but I manage to take a picture of the three remaining. The entire experience was a complete disappointment cementing the decision to...
