Upon arrival the host ask if we had a reservation, prior of our arrival I verified there webpage (which does not clarify or state that we need a reservation) with not a lot of information, not even at their instagram which nowadays is the way to go when looking at places . The host said she would find a table but if a guess with a reservation comes, I would have to leave the place if all tables were occupy, and by 5pm we should be out!!! Wow…. Once I put my order in (an appetizer and a beer) it took then 10 minutes to bring us our beer one ice cold and the other extra warm. The appetizer took more than 35 minutes. We ask for the check since we could not even talk since the music was so loud.
Upon paying, the server did not brought us our appetizer but charge us and left. We stood there like what?!! When she came back, she ask to remove the appetizer (Morcillas, which were not that good and if you know a Morcilla with not a hint of spice is not a good morcilla) but all this after she charged us. We decided to wait and about the 40 minute mark the Morcillas came, and 2 extra beer on the house for the wait which surprisingly were cold.
The name of the place Sea and Sand, has nothing on the menu that goes with the name or theme of the place. Overall a bad experience, not a lot of options to pick and to get here you have to drive trough steep roads for a long period of time. Imagine driving all that and not letting you in just because you dont have a reservation.
On the positive, beautiful place with a great view. This was just my experience...
Read moreWe went there today for the Mother’s Day. It was a big disappointment other than the beautiful view. Our reservation was at 5 pm, we went earlier and seated. Our little girl ordered chicken nuggets and rice & beans. While we finished our appetizers, our daughter did not get anything at all and she was so hungry. So much later we were told no nuggets left, we said to hurry the rice and beans then but nothing came. Much later they said they don’t have beans left either but they are making it. They would not even bring a piece of bread despite us telling them our girl is so hungry waiting. At the end we were told no dessert left either. We gave up and ask for the check , only then they brought the rice and beans that rice was so dry. Again had to wait for the check as well. Ceviche and fried cheese was good, but paella was nothing like a classic paella. It was close to a horrible experience. Still don’t understand considering they only accept customers with reservations, how they can run out of food/dessert( and that early ) Never going back. Btw, I do not really like to write reviews but this was the worst experience in a long time. Hope they read and make changes. Otherwise the place is in such a good spot, it is...
Read moreWe arrived on a Sunday around 5pm. There were quite a few people though it was not crowded. There was live music (good music). We tried the chicken breast stuffed with chorizo and bacon, "chicharrones" (chicken fried pieces) and fish fillet. All with "manposteao" rice and "tostones". The food was nothing special, although it was good. The tostones must be bigger. But the stuffed chicken breast was delicious with good amount. The service was excellent. The owner stopped for a while at our table to talk. But the best is the view. The view is breath taking. Sitting with your favorite drink to talk with friends in front of such beautiful scenery is enough incentive to visit the restaurant. We'll be back! (The restaurant is quite high up in the mountains of Cayey, Puerto Rico. it is a bit difficult to get in. Just follow the signs...and get a jacket. It's very...
