I don't find myself in Cedar Hill often, so when I happened to be down there, I figured I'd grab some local takeout for the family. One of the best decisions I've ever made, Winners Smokehouse is truly a hidden gem. It's a little hard to find because it's tucked away in this shopping center right off the highway, but it is well worth it.
I ordered "The Halftime" so I could try a little bit of everything. I've lived in Texas my entire life, and let me tell you, THIS is barbecue. When I first looked at the brisket, I was a little worried. The bark was so dark I was worried it might be dry. Nope. Perfectly moist, and that beautiful black bark was seasoned to smoky perfection. The sausages were snappy and flavorful. You know when you get ribs and they look all pink and wet like someone steamed them? None of that here, you can see the time and effort that went into cooking them right to the point they're perfectly tender, but not so tender the meat starts falling apart. Their barbecue sauce? Made in house. And not the kind of "made in house" where you know they just got two brands of sauce from the store, mixed them, threw a little tabasco in there, and all you can really taste is high fructose corn syrup. Nope. Looks like they make it from scratch, and it tastes like no barbecue sauce I've ever tasted before. And if I'm not mistaken, I think they threw a little Liquid Smoke in there too to add a little more smokiness to an already amazingly smoky meal.
I have no idea how these guys do what they do, but they're Winners...
Read moreI am so disappointed. I spent over $50 on some food. We went today, which is Sunday and it seems like the brisket on the chopped beef sandwich was dried out and re-warmed from a couple of days ago. Also, the sweet potatoes were not cooked long enough(they were hard) and the potatoes in the potato salad were not cooked long enough. Also, my husband got the baked potato which was very dry and seemed to be re-warmed from the day before. The rib tips were dry and overcooked. The only thing I enjoyed was the baked beans. This is ridiculous that we spent money for some good, quality food only to get some old meat and veggies. I have been to this place before but they have completely gone down. How do you think you can get away with re-warming food? People spend money for fresh food. I'm done!! Just sad, never going there again!! Signed, An unsatisfied customer!!
This is my reply to the message I was sent back from the owner. No, the food wasn't fresh. I know how rewarmed and dried up food look and taste and I know fresh food when I see and taste it. And yes, maybe you did fix your veggies the same day but you didn't cook your potatoes in your sweet potatoes long enough nor did you cook the potatoes in the potato salad long enough, the potatoes were hard and the brisket was dried out in both the chopped beef sandwich and my spouse baked potato. I know when food is fresh and when it's not. I eaten from ya'll several times and it never tasted like it tasted today. Today was horrible and I won't be back to...

🔥🍖 Winners Smokehouse is absolutely a WINNER. Hands down, 10 out of 10.
The barbecue here is so good you don’t even need sauce—which is wild for me because I love barbecue sauce. I was halfway through my meal before I remembered I hadn’t even used any yet! The meat is so tender and flavorful it makes you want to chew your fingers off trying to get another bite. 😂 If you’re not careful, you might even mistakenly chew your fingers off trying to get to the next bite! 🔫🍗🤣
The barbecue sauce itself is 🔥 amazing if you want it, but honestly, you might not even need it.
👏 Service was fantastic. Everyone was super friendly, polite, and attentive. I dined in (while many took theirs to go) and I’m really glad I did.
🧡 I want to give a special shout-out to Mr. Ken Frazier 🙏 who went above and beyond to make sure my drink stayed full 🥤 and my table was always clean and tidy with fresh napkins. Thank you so much for the excellent, attentive service! 👌
This place is a true hidden gem 💎—it’s on the backside of a shopping mall right off Highway 67 in Cedar Hill, Texas. Don’t let the location fool you. This is a must-try BBQ spot that you’ll be truly happy you discovered.
