TL;DR, Get thee to Bagel Bear to soak up the yummy food and vibes!!
I found Bagel Bear as I was driving by and looking for a decadent indulgence. SCORE!!
The staff were vibrant and entirely lovely, offering friendly conversation as well as generous samples of the cream cheese flavors I was torn between. The owner, Manju, was also the one to explain my options and patiently wait while I made my selections. I love that she's back there rocking the counter and creating a lovely atmosphere With her staff!! They also have a wee bowl of bear temporary tattoos and you Know I took my tume to pick my favorite and put it on in the bathroom. 😊 I'll tell everyone who asks Exactly where I got it!!
Ok, The Food. For me, the date and honey flavors both sounded tasty, and each was Perfectly blended and delicious. They also had several Fabulous-looking bagel flavors I wanted to try!! The Onion, Rosemary, and Cheddar bagels are at the top of my to-try list, and there were fruit-topped bagels, too! Blackberry and apple, if I remember correctly. They looked So Yummy!!!
I ordered a Za'tar bagel with Honey cream cheese and I am currently DEVOURing it in a decidedly UNaesthetic way. 😆 Sorry, no photos! But check out the mural and my sweet new bear tattoo!!
The herby, chewy deliciousness of the bagel pairs beautifully with the rich, creamy, sweetness of the cream cheese.
They cut my bagel, toasted it for me, and then slathered a generous layer of cream cheese, wrapped it in a fancy bakery paper and cut it vertically for easy nomming. It was presented as a sandwich, but I'm more of an open-faced bagel person, so I pulled the pieces apart to enjoy. The amount of spread is Perfection for each quadrant, and the chew of the sourdough is perfection. Yes, that was redundant, and it's accurate so I'm not sorry. 😋
The mural on the wall and the furniture are beautiful, and the playlist is that Just Right blend of chill and energetic.
Seriously, I wish I could bring my mom here to hang out and enjoy our coffee and a...
Read moreJust discovered Bagel Bear as I was driving past it today. As a native New Yorker / Long Islander, I consider myself a bagel snob and obnoxiously introduced myself this way. The person behind the counter shared that they have lived in NY. We chatted briefly, and I was excited that they had firsthand knowledge of NY bagels. It was late in the day, so inventory was low, but I was able to buy two sesame seed bagels with no fixings - to go. Tried it as soon as I got in the car. Had the classic taste and chewiness of a NY bagel! Finished the whole bagel at that point, didn't need any toppings or toasting. I look forward to going back earlier in the day, when there will be a better selection (poppy is my favorite), and I will try their Lox Classic - hoping it will be good. I'm in Round Rock and usually make a trip to Wholly Bagel on Far West to stock up on a Texas Dozen. Bagel Bear may be my new, closer-by,...
Read moreWe got to try Bagel Bear for the first time this last Saturday! We came around 8:15 AM and there was already a lot of people waiting. This restaurant is a seat-yourself establishment, with a walk-up counter to order at. There isn't much description on the sandwiches on their menu board behind the counter, but you can find more info about each on their website, or just ask! The staff is all super friendly and very helpful with any questions. The gentleman behind the counter made sure that our order was all correct, and everything came out great! It took about 15-20 minutes after ordering to receive our food. We asked for cups of water and the water was warm, so I suggest just buying a water bottle if you prefer it cold. The food was all generous portion sizes. The bagels themselves and the bacon were both a bit chewy, but other than that, the food...
