American Skillet — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

We love finding new restaurants that we haven't heard of before! Well, this restaurant did NOT disappoint!! We were greeted immediately by several people. Very friendly people!! I highly recommend this restaurant!! We ended up having to wait just a little but that was okay because we needed to run an errand just down the road. They took our number so they could text us when our seat was ready. We got back and within 5 minutes our table was ready. We had multiple waitresses checking up on us. The food was so good! My husband had an omelet, which usually at other restaurants is bland both colorwise and tastewise. This was so flavorful and colorful!! I usually don't like omelets very much but I would eat them from this restaurant!!! My whole family enjoyed the atmosphere and food at this restaurant!! We will make the trip from Waterloo to Cedar Rapids to eat...

Ok I'm a little confused I just posted a review of this place a few minutes ago I thought I it reviewed that and posted it a long time back but it came up so I hit save just in case it was not there this is a new one. This time had Reuben with fries. I like this one too I have a good breakfast and good Reubens. It wasn't too heavy on the Thousand Island that was good corned beef was good and the bottom piece of bread was slightly soggy but not bad overall I really enjoyed it and I would recommend the Rubens to anyone who comes there. It must have been a birthday of the owner because she had flowers on the counter by the cash register that was fun. Apparently she's been working there for 20 years maybe. I have been to American Skillet before, but it's been a while. I stopped in today and I'm not sure I'll be back again for a while.

The server just seemed to be in a rush to get my order. She must have asked four times in a five minute period if I was ready to order, yet.

I got the full order of biscuits and gravy and while it was delicious, it didn't seem like much for ten dollars. There were two small biscuits hiding under a plateful of gravy. I'm glad I didn't go with the half order. Also, just now I was able to find a menu on American Skillet's facebook page, which stated I should have gotten fruit or American fries with my order. I wasn't offered either and neither was brought to me. All in all I spent seventeen dollars for two small biscuits and a glass of orange juice. Just didn't seem a good...
