First of all the staff and service was amazing. But that's where the good ended. This place is a bar, not a restaurant. There really is no restaurant seating and it's full of nothing but bar stools. It's very dark and has slot machines. I would not recommend bringing anyone under the age of 21 to this place. Their menus are paper and not even real menus. There were a lot of good reviews about their calzone so I ordered it. It was the blandest thing I've ever eaten and the bread was overcooked and hard. Even their pepperoni had no flavor. The bread didn't have any garlic or butter and there were no herbs or seasoning on the inside of the calzone. Since this was a bar not a restaurant, there were several regulars at the bar having a good old time being rowdy and raunchy. Didn't bother me in the least but it did bother me that there was a 7-year-old girl and a 10 year old boy sitting right behind these regulars. I would not want my children around people who were dropping the f-bomb every other word. And all of the staff knew all the regulars that came in which is awesome for the regulars except that if you know your regulars you probably shouldn't have children in this bar. Because this is a bar and not a restaurant, expect to enter and leave this place through a cloud of smoke.
They don't have a smoking area so all the regulars hang out right outside the door and smoke. Within 4 ft of the door. Again if this was a bar I'd have no problem with that but since they advertise this a restaurant and my visit actually had children there, that is really disgusting to have to take your children in and out of a smoke cloud to get to a restaurant to eat. The parking lot is completely broken up and covered in Weeds so you are not even sure where to park and it feels very shady on the outside and parking lot. I was concerned that my car may not even be there when I left. But I gave it a try cuz sometimes you can't judge a book by its cover. It's not their fault that the shopping center doesn't upkeep their parking lot. This place is not kid friendly and the food is not good. But you are a friendly atmosphere for adults to hang out and have drinks then this...
Read moreStop in Wednesday for their buy a large pizza for medium price. Large Pepperoni, Onion, Green Pepper.
Went in with relatively low expectations as the pizza in Cedar Rapids has not met my Chicago taste buds thus far. But let me tell you this place gets a solid 7.5 out of 10 and has met that mark.
Dough was cooked well underneath and had a nice chew throughout, edges could've been a little more crispy. Toppings tasted fresh and the veggies had a nice crunch! Pizza was delicious overall, but there was something missing like a sharpness in the sauce just a tad plain almost like it needed more pepper/oregano/or Italian seasonings. Saved a couple pieces to eat cold an microwaved and pizza was still extremely satisfying.
When I have family visit from out this will be our pizza of choice. For those wondering this has a similar taste to Rosati"s if I had to compare to...
Read moreWhat others have noted on great service and fair prices is certainly true. While I only make it to this neighborhood a couple times a few times a year, I'm in favor of this establishment.
You won't see tables uncleared, bartenders nursing their cell phones, or any of my major pet peeves.
What you will see is a different type of pub environment. At 40, I felt like the youngster, the lights are a bit brighter and the music not quite as blaring as some other places. There always seems to be a good vibe and some sort of game going on to keep customers attention and the place fairly packed when others wouldn't be, but there always seems to be just enough seats available to slide in.
I'd expect to find this place in a much smaller town, with one pub, rather than somewhere with multiple other places in a few miles: It's an institution, and...
