MUST READ BEFORE YOU GO...
Here is the bad and the good.
From the moment my wife daughter and I walked in and some kid in long hair yelled at us from 15 feet away... pick up or ordering out?
I should have left.
Due to my daughter being so hungry and my wanting to find a new place for us, I took a risk...I stayed.🫣
I ignored that he (dude in long hair) yelled at a guy to seat us... who told a lady who barely speaks English who yelled from another 15 feet in front of us to follow her. 🤔
And then...
WORSE service ever.
Nyonna (sounding out the spelling) olive skinned young lady was our server.
Long story short. She didn't know the menu, drinks, or the food.
She got my order wrong after I almost spelled it out and repeated it slowly 3 times.
5 piece Sashimi order of octopus.
She repeated it.
Couldn't get that right.
Along with drink orders, no napkins. And more.
The busperson from some island country (really nice and professional) was on us (as on other tables) to see what we needed... more than our server.
I was waiting for the rest of my order to really dig in (I had three pieces of two orders to taste) and for my wife and daughters food since 1/2 of my order had arrived 12 minutes before theirs and still nothing for them nor the rest of my order.
Results:
We walked out. Hungry, frustrated.
So... here is the sad part... I have had Sushi as part of my regular DAILY DIET in NYC, LA, Miami and even in Sukiyabashi Jiro in Tokyo.
This sushi was not bad... I can say it MAY be the best in Cedar Rapids but I can't confirm due to the inability to enjoy it.
Do I recommend this place?
💯 no.
Order your food to go AND CHECK YOUR PLATES before you pay.
BTW if you see a skinny Asian young lady running around the place ... SHE is the only reason they stay open... she did the work of 20.people while we watched her... I thought she was the owner.
Moral? Stay away...

My wife and I decided to go to the 1st Ave location for dinner last night , 9/26/25, to start off our anniversary weekend. We got there around 7:20 pm , they were busy, so we were understanding. We ended up getting sat at a table by the bar area. We waited for 20 mins waiting to be served to be told we were sat in the wrong location. And we relocated to another table. Which then went on to wait another 20 mins before we were even greeted by a server. They looked annoyed, people that came in after us were severed before us as well.
When finally got served, we ordered an app and a cup of soup. Ordered our food as well with some fountain drinks, which ended up being flat.
We got the Gyoza ( the pork dumpings) , which were cold in the center, and my wife never got her soup.
Main food came out, which was the last time we saw our server. The main food was ok.
We were wanting to leave, I started feeling unwell, server would never stop, even when politely calling for them. So i got up and walked up the cashier so i could just pay and leave. Since they never would come back to the table. They took the soup off since it never came. It was a terrible experience for the eating at the restaurant. Left a tip, but probably shouldn't have. Proceed to get sick in the bushes as soon as leaving then building.
Disappointed due to the fact the food truck was a good experience, but the actual restaurant was terrible.
Will not...
Read morePLEASE READ!!!!!! These people left me and my husband scrambling to find food for hundreds of people. Not only did we have to find food, but I don’t think they understood the cascade of events to follow them leaving my wedding venue. My own brothers missed family pictures, my wedding party never got to sit and enjoy a meal together, and my own mother didn’t even get to watch our first dance. These are moments that I will never get back, all because they blocked our phone number and never came back. They lie. They say they tried to call to fix it. The ONLY call I had was asking if we were still having our wedding due to rain and that was 5 hours prior to serve time. I didn’t answer because I was getting my hair and makeup done for the biggest day of my life. They lied about what time they arrived at the venue for set up, because my guests watched him pull up, get pissed and leave. They lied about coming in and talking to anyone in charge to try and solve the problem. They lied about any communication. The guy driving the truck wanted the coordinator to stop our wedding vows so someone would move a car because they simply could not wait. I wouldn’t have cared if they were late for set up, they thought it was best to just leave. We wouldn’t have cared if you parked smack dab in the middle of the parking lot. We just...
