We went in there two or three weeks ago. We have been there a couple times before and have had a great experience.
This time, not quite as great.
The food was pretty good. I had a large Loosie burger or whatever it's called. It could have used a little more meat or less bun but was pretty good. The only real complaint about the sandwich is I asked for ketchup, mustard, onions and cheese. It had plenty of onions but if the rest of the condiments were on it, I could not see or taste them. I didn't complain, though. It was good without them.
I also had some beans and macaroni and cheese. Both were very good.
I want to give Loosie's five stars based on the food, but there's service to consider. The guy behind the counter was nice enough when we first came in. He gave us some extra macaroni and cheese and whatnot. The problem started when another customer came in who was obviously a friend. They were talking a lot, which is okay, but in their talk the man at the counter said he sent his helper home. He said she's some high school girl who talks too much. Might seem a little nitpicky to bring this up, but as their conversation went on, they talked about how kids these days don't know how to have a conversation and complained that young people don't want to work.
Hello? You sent your help home because she talked too much. Yet, you say kids can't carry a conversation. Which is it? And I probably wouldn't want to work there, either, if I was going to be sent home just because you find me annoying.
Maybe I could have just let this all slide, but the place began to get busy. About this time I was done with my meal and thought I would get a piece of pie, too. The guy at the counter was too busy keeping up with the customers coming in, I couldn't get his attention. Also, some lady asked for pie and he dug around in a refrigerator opening containers of pie with his bare hands, trying to figure out what kinds they had.
Perhaps if he hadn't sent the coworker home I could have gotten her attention and asked for pie. And maybe she could have gotten me some in a hygienic way. But, alas, I went...
Read moreThe place smelled amazing walking in. Super small but quaint. Staff was friendly for the most part. My roommate ordered and then I stepped up to order and the lady walked away to look over warming pots and left me standing awkwardly but whatever. I travel for work and am on the road 99% of the time and it's always nice to find food that tastes like home. It's not overly processes ingredients. The baked beans and Mac n cheese are some of the best I've ever had. The chilli was good. I really liked the green beans. I will be adding green beans to my home chilli from now on. I read the review about the portion size for side orders to go and I can see that for $2.75 they were on the too small side. However, they quality was worth the price and also since covid costs of everything rose quickly and unevenly so I don't know the cost of ingredients for restaurants but I can tell you I feel like I got my money's worth and I will be coming back for beans and Mac n cheese. Thank you, Loosies, for...
Read moreSmall and quaint. Experience was initially good until my food arrived. Upon putting a spoonful of beans into my mouth I immediately tasted and felt something that wasn’t natural. I reached in and pulled out a long black human hair out of my mouth. That hair just came from the spoonful of beans said I had put into my mouth. I have no hair so it wasn’t mine. I did address it with the woman who served the food to me and she brought me a new thing of beans, but I think it’s pretty safe to say that that is gross, unsanitary and it is a health code violation. I did not make a big deal of it because I know that we err as humans and make mistakes. However, it does need to be addressed. The ladies working were very kind and mortified by the hair. How do you think I felt?!?! I had it in my mouth and it was probably one of theirs. Let’s just say I will...
