A good friend of mine invited me out to lunch this past Sunday, and it was to Blind Pig. I liked our visit.
•Location Vibe• I have driven by many times but have never stopped in. The location looks like a typical bar and grill from the outside, but once inside, it is warm and inviting. Inside had overhead festive string lights and tabletop seating at the bar and surrounding.
•Service• Our server was terrific! She checked in with us promptly and continuously throughout the meal. My glass was never half-empty, and I was very impressed with the attentiveness. She also had a shirt on that just tickled me pink. It said, "I know the owner also" for anyone that has worked food/customer service industry, I think this hits home and, for me, brought a good chuckle.
•Food• I was surprised by the food quality and portions. Everything was super fresh, hot, and excellent quality. I was impressed.
Garlic Cheese Curds - Normally, something like this is a bit heavy for me; many places make them very greasy. That was not the case here. They were light, crispy, and balanced the garlic flavor perfectly!
Hot Chicken wings - Nice-sized wings, good quality meat, and good taste. They were not that very spicy for me, but I always recommend you try these types of items yourself with caution, and I have burnout out my spicy meter at this point unless it's Ghost pepper or hotter at this point ;P.
Cobb Salad - WOW! This thing was amazing and enormous! I mean, it had all the fixings and was just fantastic. I might come back just for another salad. Gotta keep them greens going ;). Don't take my word for it. Check the pics out and get one yourself!
Fries - The fries are pretty awesome as well. Breaded, crispy, and super delicious!
To sum it up, it was a good experience, and the service was excellent.

Read moreFirst time through Cedar Rapids. Google had this place highly recommended. We needed real food other than gas station food as we've been traveling, so we ended up here. Menu was filled with items that sounded really good. My husband and I ordered a drink, an appetizer and each a meal. The jacked mac n cheese was mentioned a lot and so we were eager to try it. The corn fritter bites were tasty (appetizer) My husband ordered the signature pork loin sandwich and I had the kickin chicken. His side was the mac n cheese and my sandwich came with mac n cheese on the sandwich. I chose side salad for my side, and it was ver good and surprisingly good sizw. Both meals looked great. Unfortunately, we both had cold mac n cheese. Since it was us both, I actually wondered if that's how they served it...yes, that would be a first lol but it was just odd that it was both of ours. When I asked a man that worked there, he said, "no" and then offered to get us hot mac.n cheese. Hubs sandwich was fantastic. The kickin chicken was pretty good. The spicy pepper next to it made me think it had a kick. It was definitely not spicy but had good flavor. To be fair, I should have probably gotten the Buffalo chicken sandwich since I know that is more my level of spice. Mac n cheese when new batches came out was tasty. Made with peper jack cheese is part of their twist I think. It was good and definitely better warmed! They took our meals off the bill which we definitely didn't expect at all. We left what was deducted in meals as a tip...we get that things happen. Appreciated the offer on getting hot, fresh mac n cheese. We would definitely come here again as it's a fun, casual vibe and we appreciate that they "made it right" by offering fresh hot mac n cheese. Maybe it was a new cook? We all have our days. All in all a...
Read moreFood was great. Had the special. Ate on the patio since the only low seating was two small booths stuck in a corner. Was not able to go outside from inside the restaurant since there was a large step down from both doors going outside and no ramps. There is a gate from outside the parking lot into the back patio area. So to use the restroom you would have to walk around the building through the parking area into the front door and then into the restroom area. For someone in a wheelchair this could be very difficult. Using 2 canes made it more of a chore than it had to be if there had been a ramp and a handicap button to open the door. Had a fantastic waiter who always checked in for refills and any questions we might have had. Obviously not a place for me to visit in the colder weather since there is no seating for someone who can't sit in booths or at high tops.
Update 4/22/24 Booths have been updated to tables and chairs at regular height. So someone in a w/c is now able to sit at the table or someone like me who uses canes is able to sit on a chair to be able to enjoy my meal inside. Bathroom does have a handicapped stall but it might be a little tight to maneuver a w/c into the br, close the door and get into the handicapped stall. Same great food and service! Improvements in accessibility! That is good that there are attempts to make this place...
