Bamboo Garden Restaurant — Restaurant in Ceres

This place has delicious food. I don't eat out much but decided to splurge one night because I miss Chinese food so much. Went here, ordered 2 meals so that I would have enough food for 4 days, and before tip, the cost was about $20. Not bad at all.

I ordered 'to go' so did not sit inside the restaurant while I ate, but I was at the front and had a good look around while my food was being cooked. They have an aquarium in the front which keeps the kiddies busy, and me, as well. Restaurant seemed clean enough, and some days they have a good crowd, other days don't see a lot of diners.

Food was finished rather quickly...a little quicker than I expected so I have no idea if the meals are made in bulk beforehand or if the chef is that good. Doesn't matter, my mouth watered the entire way home smelling the aroma from the 'to go' bag, and I was not disappointed when I took my first bite.

I hope that this place stays around and continues to offer Chinese food to this community. It's really needed as this area doesn't seem to have much variety otherwise. With Teriyaki King in Modesto gone, and the one on the other side of the parking lot from this restaurant having its health issues...which is a HUGE disappointment...this is all I have left. It's really good...so as long as they continue to stay in business and use food safety measures,...

I went to order a dinner plate and the man at the register taking my order had a really heavy accent and was not understanding what I wanted to order. Then when he charged me I noticed he charged me twice and put 2 orders. I told him I only wanted one plate and asked to have a side of vegetables and he said he gave me a second plate because they do not do sides. I told him this was a lot of food for me and he said I can save it for tomorrow and was very rude and upset. After I saw how rude he was getting I asked for my money back and he refused to give me my money back and said he would only change my order to one plate. He began to speak to a young man who also works here in his language still very upset. He gave me my one plate and returned gave me back about $8. I have been coming to this place for 5 years now since we moved here and not once have I seen him at the register. Unfortunately, I will no longer be going to this place. All my family here in town goes here also but I will be sure to share my experience. I really love they're food, they are very friendly and I always enjoy my time while I'm there. Lately, I've been dropping in for a to-go meal. They make sure you have everything you need before leaving. The first time I ate there I ordered the, Vegetable Egg Foo Young with gravy. My Mom was a great cook and she made a variety of international dishes, one happen to be Egg Foo Young.. When I took my first warm, delicious bite... well... Mom has been gone now for 7 years and it felt like, I was in her kitchen eating the exact same dish that she had prepared. I had to hold back the tears but, I felt warm all over. I order this once a week now, along with Prawns, Cream cheese Wonton, etc. I recommend Bamboo Garden to anyone that likes this type of cuisine. Also, the portions are large and I can have the other half for lunch the next...
