This is basically a review of their Filipino pork BBQ and bibingka as those are the only food I've tried here. Both are really good, the pork BBQ may be the best around. Highly recommended!
Update: I've tried their goto, tokwa with crispy pork, and pancit palabok. They're all good. We ate in the car because of COVID.
I realized that these foods that we enjoyed have really subtle flavors. So for those who are not familiar with Filipino food they might wonder what's the fuss about. 😂 I think you should learn how to put them together. Goto (beef tripe) and arroz caldo (chicken) are savory rice porridge that can be eaten by itself or mixed with toppings. You can squeeze some calamansi/lemon, add some ground black pepper, fried garlic, spring onion, and a dash of fish sauce if it's not too salty. You can add fried tofu and crispy pork/pork rind/chicharrones for some crunch. Hard boiled egg is also sometimes served with this. Best enjoyed on a cold rainy day. For pancit palabok you can squeeze calamansi/lemon. It usually has seafood and ground pork rind. I like to top it with smoked fish flakes (tinapa), ground roasted peanuts, spring onions and sliced hard boiled egg. If you're not familiar with how to eat something ask the waiter/uncle/auntie at the counter how to best enjoy your food. I do the same when I'm trying a...
Read moreManila Sunset in Cerritos is hands down the best location. I’ve been to other branches, but this one truly stands out. From the authentic flavors to the friendly service, every visit feels like a taste of home.
The pork BBQ skewers are grilled to perfection, juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. Their pancit palabok is rich, savory, and topped generously with all the fixings. And the bibingka? Absolutely incredible. It’s perfectly soft, warm, and fluffy with just the right hint of sweetness and creaminess. Each bite melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting more. It is honestly the best bibingka I have ever had, comforting, authentic, and unforgettable.
What really makes this location shine is the attention to detail and consistency. The food always tastes freshly prepared, portions are generous, and the staff is super welcoming and attentive.
Compared to other locations, Cerritos goes above and beyond in both quality and service. It is no wonder this has become my go-to spot whenever I’m craving Filipino...
Read moreGreat food that I tried last year and treated my family to this year. I’m not from the area so it was good to find the place. The workers were over middle aged women, 5 of them, but don’t expect to make friends. I actually tried to call in an order but she had the speakerphone on and her accent was way too thick to understand. I drove 20 minutes to get there, placed my order and waited about 35 minutes. I got pork and chicken bbq skewers that came with rice, 2 oz dipping vinegar and a small chicken broth for about $13. The place is way too small to fit a medium party of 5. Lots of people lined up right after I got there around 1 pm so we got there at the right time. Not a lot of menu variety at all but the Filipinos were eating different things from what I got and seemed pretty happy. Not sure if I’ll return soon but I might take my Filipina friends with me to crack a smile outta...
