Tru Country Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Channahon

I want to start with the positives. The place looks great. I love how it has been redone. The fries were really good the food presentation was really nice too.

We opted to sit outside, it is a lovely dining area out there. Every table was gross though. We picked a table and the waitress said she would be back to clean it. She came back after a bit for drink orders. When she brought the drinks back she informed me they didn't have the pop I had ordered. I asked for a coke. I got a root beer. No biggie, didn't even mention it. I had to clean the table myself because having our drinks on the gross table was pretty yuck. She eventually came back and we asked for menus. 🤣🤣 omg why did we need to ask for them? She seemed surprised we wanted food. We also had to ask to have our table wiped off (I only cleaned so much).

The menus were all sticky and crusty. After a very long wait she came back for our orders. It was only then that we were informed two items are discontinued (because I tried to order one). Would have been nice to know that when we got the menus.

The burger I got was a southwest burger. The pulled pork that was on it actually was nice and juicy but didn't have much flavor. Drinks are served in cheapo plastic cups which gave off a cheap vibe, although the meal is served on a nice wood platter.

Will I be back? No. I wanted to like this place, but sadly, it was lacking in all the important areas...fun decor cannot overcompensate for mediocre food and...

I was really looking forward to this place. 😕😕😞 Unfortunately, I paid $20 for a burger and fries. The burger was a little bland and I didn't get many fries. The fries I did get were pretty dry and not hot. I asked for a cup of ranch and I felt like I was asking for a million dollar lottery ticket. The waitress seemed angry because I asked for ranch. I didn't want free ranch, I was willing to pay whatever for a small cup. If an establishment is going to charge more than Crusade for a burger, it has to be spot on. The attitude from the staff was weird as well. Whoever remodeled the place did an awesome job though. Remodels are cool but that's not what I'm drinking or eating. I may change my review, pending my next visit.

Update 4-11-24 😞😞😞 Don't be fooled by all of these reviews, I know several people that had horrible experiences here and unfortunately this business has the ability to block any reviews they see fit. Several of my coworkers and several acquaintances left HONEST reviews and the restaurant never posted them. That should be a huge red flag 🚩 if a business isn't being transparent. 😞 Because of this, I will no longer recommend this place or return for a second...

I've been here a few times now and have had a mostly pleasant experience. Burger was awesome, but we only had a few fries to go with it. If you're going to charge $20 for a burger, I would hope you would get a decent serving of fries with your meal. On my second visit, the waitress gave us an attitude about splitting the check, and the food was just okay. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and it was disappointing. Every time we asked for something, we felt like we were bothering the waitress. Hopefully, they can iron out these issues because this place definitely...
