A Slice of Warmth in Every Way!
I was visiting Charlemont, MA from Birmingham, Alabama for a Canoeing instructor certification. After a long, freezing day training on the river—even in a wetsuit—I was absolutely chilled to the bone and just needed a hot meal close to where I was staying. That’s when I stumbled into Berkshire Pizzeria, and what happened next was nothing short of incredible.
Still shivering, I was greeted with the warmest hospitality I've ever experienced. AKA Northern Hospitality! =) The staff were unbelievably kind and attentive. I shared how cold I was, and without hesitation, the owner Greg offered to let me stand by the ovens to warm up. He even turned on a patio heater and a special heater that blew warm air directly toward me. It was like being wrapped in a blanket of kindness and pizza-scented warmth!
I decided to stay for dinner, and I’m so glad I did. The personal pizza, wings, and a cold beer hit the spot perfectly. The food was delicious, the portions generous, and the vibe? Pure comfort. I left feeling full, warm, and genuinely cared for.
If you're ever in Charlemont—especially near Zoar Outdoor—do yourself a favor and stop by Berkshire Pizzeria. Whether you need a cozy place to thaw out or just crave some great food served with a smile, this place is a gem. I’ll absolutely be back if I ever find myself in Massachusetts again! The view from the...
Read moreObjectively bad pizza and very expensive.
Seriously, just go to Pizza Hut instead (that's how bad the pizza is here). Although I suppose if you're stuck in western Massachusetts and can't get to a real restaurant, this will have to do.

I visited on 7/14/2023. Anyone saying that this pizza is "the best they've ever had," well... hasn't had much pizza.
This is below-chain-quality pizza at exorbitant prices. I guess that works out when you're the only pizzeria within an hour drive. But it doesn't work out if you've ever tasted pizza literally anywhere else.
We could talk about the low-quality dough and the fact that the toppings were sparse and similarly poor quality. We could talk about the fact that whether you're expecting New York style pizza (which this pizza seems to be poorly emulating) or Chicago style, you're going to be disappointed. We could talk about the fact that Dominoes, Papa Johns, and Pizza Hut all taste better than what's offered here. But again, in western Massachusetts with no other options, this might be your best bet for an over-priced,...
Read moreI read reviews on this place for months and today my friend and I drove over the back roads to get there even though it is directly on Route 2. Ok, so my take on this little restaurant in the Heart of Charlemont is most assuredly one of the BEST PIZZAS 🍕 I have had in a very long time. Yes, we did wait a bit, however it was absolutely worth the little bit of wait time. I ordered the "BERSHIRE SPECIAL" and it was sooooooo good, delicious, mouth satisfying and done to perfection. I cannot expound enough on the quality of this pizza and the succulent toppings that came with it. My friend Barbara ordered a veggie calzone which she shared a piece with me while I shared a piece of pizza with her. The calzone was delicious but the Berkshire Pizza won 🏆. The owner was extremely accommodating even though the place was crowded. He took care of our appetites along with giving us a free sample of his Hot Fudge Sundae. Fabulous place if you want great food. They have an extensive menu so if you want pizza you have plenty of other choices. Great find. Great food. Fabulous owners. We...
