Sweet Zen Bakery in Malvern is a delightful new addition to the area. Initially, I was unsure about its location away from Route 30, but being right across from a Marriott was a smart choice—perfect for drawing in hotel guests and locals alike. I visited twice so far, and despite the limited selection when they first opened early in the morning, I was still thoroughly impressed. The bakery is clean, organized, and staffed by some of the friendliest people you'll meet. Though small, the space is used efficiently, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I sampled a variety of treats: a chocolate chip cookie, brownies, a lemon poppy scone, a cinnamon cardamom knot, a peanut butter brownie, raspberry cheesecake, za'atar focaccia, olive and sundried tomato focaccia, cheese bialy bread, and a day-old baguette. The cookie was outstanding, perfectly balancing semisweet and milk chocolate chips, with a texture that was both crisp on the outside and soft inside. The brownies were spot-on, with just the right fudginess—especially the peanut butter one, which stood out. The lemon poppy scone had a wonderful texture, though I found myself wishing for a bit more lemony zing. Despite not being a fan of graham cracker crusts, I found the top portion of the raspberry cheesecake simply amazing—enough to make me want more. While I’m not a coffee drinker, I noticed they serve Turks Head coffee, which is sure to please local coffee enthusiasts. They could expand their tea selection, but the bakery is already off to a great start with plans to join the Too Good to Go community, a program that helps reduce food waste—a cause I wholeheartedly support. They’re also offering a military discount, which is another thoughtful touch. Overall, Sweet Zen Bakery is a promising upstart with a lot to offer. I’m excited to see how they grow, and I’ll definitely be back for more.

I reached out to Zen Bakery to do a birthday cake for my daughter’s first birthday which was Alice in Wonderland themed. Amal was so easy and wonderful to work with. She helped talk through all of the options and worked with the inspiration photo I sent to let me know what was possible. We landed on a chocolate chip cake with chocolate ganache filling and vanilla buttercream. The final product was beyond anything I ever expected— it was fun and beautiful, and tasted just as good as it looked! Thank you, Amal and Karen!

Ordered a birthday cake from the bakery. Very happy with the ordering process and the quality of the cake. I called about a week in advance and we talked through my options. The cake was ready for pickup bright and early on the day of the party. Cost was fair for the quality and comparable to other bakeries in the area. Liked the chocolate cake and the ganache. Not too sweat. Good decorating too. Would definitely order from them again. Shop was also attractive. Would definitely try some of their other baked goods.

This amazing cozy bakery, makes delicious and inspired desserts and treats. Originally, I found them looking for a specific type of cake. Not only did they make a delicious dessert, it was beautiful as well. You and your tastebuds will be overjoyed with this delicious local bakery’s offerings.

Of course, the most important part of a bakery is pastries but I have to mention the kind, helpful, warm and possibly psychic staff. They puzzled through all of my convoluted descriptions of what kind of cake I wanted and were kind while helping me.

Get yourself a muffin and coffee to go, you...
