City Barbeque — Restaurant in Charlotte

So you know it was such a nice day when I ordered from City Barbeque, well I didn't order directly through them but I found them through DoorDash which provides deliveries for just about any restaurant or fast food place around. If you are looking for some great not just good bbq this is it. I like to wait to make my reviews just so I don't become impulsive. I also just saw that a yelp event was here I am so jealous!! I was not given the opportunity to discover this place before now. Sorry DoorDash but next time I am going in person. I ordered the Pulled Pork w/Bun and Fresh Cut Fries.

Those fries tho... LAWWWWWWD they were so fresh and just right and there was so many. I could have taken some home but they never made it I tore them down! The sandwich/that pork was just crazy and I mean crazy stupid in a good way because it takes a lot for some food to really have me excited like this to the point my heart rate is racing just thinking about it. It was so good I mean I have not had bbq this good in probably 2 or 3 years. I had them bring me 2 sides of the Sweet BBQ sauce and I was again blown away at how good and authentic it tastes. Put's a LOT of other sauces to shame.

I almost shed a tear and I was saying to myself I have got to review this place because it blew me away. They say that they give "the same attention they would give to their own family" I really believe that because the only person that really made BBQ this good in my past was my grandma and grandpa at their bbq pit.

This food took me back and I thought about my Maw Maw who passed away she always made sure I had everything I needed and was always trying to feed me even when I was slam packed full. The portions here are very generous so at first I though the prices were high but they are COMPLETELY acceptable for the quality and care that goes into the food. They have one in Ballantyne (the one I ordered from) and in Matthews. I heard they are building one in another part of Charlotte as well. I hope that they all do their food to perfection because this is the way it's supposed to be. I told DoorDash to ask for extra napkins because I'm messy so they really put some extra napkins in there and they are QUALITY napkins like not that cheap mess they are custom printed and will open up to be able to cover your whole top part of your shirt yeah they are nice. They hooked me up with extra so now when someone needs a napkin I give that out and tell them about City Barbeque. You guys deserve it and please keep up the fantastic work I can't wait to bring friends and family in!

Im continuously in search of good BBQ in Charlotte. Sadly nothing as great as other parts of the country. However i was impressed with my visit to City BBQ today. I went around 2 luckily i was there before 3, that is when the lunch specials stop. The cashier was nice answered all of my questions with patience and knowledge. I got the full cut brisket collards and baked beans. First the greens were awesome! They were a different flavor than what you would expect the typical southern porky greens to be very delicious. I didn't care for the baked beans you could tell they were not from a can the beans still had a slight bit to them but a little to bbq'y for me. If you like bbq baked beans you might enjoy them. Now the brisket.....it was just OK. I guess i just want to be blown away by brisket and im just not in Charlotte. I ordered full cut and i got more fat than meat. I went back in and told the staff they weren't rude about it and cut me more. Even the pit master didn't seem to be turned off by my request. They definitely had me impressed with customer service and accommodation. The bark was good well seasoned i just need more flavor throughout and a pink smoke ring! The sauces to choose from were ok i got the sweet city and spicy and mixed them. That for me was perfect. Id still try them again I would return simply for those collards! Plus the cashier told me about rib Tuesday and the menu noted they were St. Louis so id give...

We just left this place and we are VERY impressed! They blew our expectations out of the water. I'm from TX so BBQ is kinda my thing and I have had plenty of places to compare this to.

The menu has a decent amount to choose from, what I would expect from a BBQ place. We were able to sample the brisket and turkey before deciding on what we wanted. The brisket was PERFECT! We were offered it with the "bark" or without. I had never heard of this before and was told it meant without the seasoning on the outside. I want all the bark though! The seasoning was great, not too peppery, and the smoke had a nice flavor but not overpowering. The turkey was also really good, but I preferred the brisket.

Our lunch plate came with a decent serving of meat, enough for a sandwhich, and 2 sides. The buns were not like regular hamburger buns so that was a nice twist. I got the cornbread pudding (gotta try it!) and collards. Both were very good! My husband really enjoyed the vinegar cole slaw.

They have a bigger than average selection of BBQ sauce. I tried everything except the "Swine Wine" and I wish I would of tried it now, it sounded delicious. The Original BBQ Sauce was a nice sweet and smokey sauce. I was unsure of the Mustard BBQ Sauce but I'm glad I tried it because I actually really liked it.
