If I could Give this restaurant a negative zero rating I would. It is not because of the food because I wasn't giving any even though I paid over a $100 for my order. It wasn't because of the staff, they were very nice and polite. It, in fact, was because of the owner that goes by Kenyotta Perry. I have never in my entire life been treated the way I was at any place of business, the way I was here. On 8/4 I submitted my online order at 11:29am to be picked up at 2:30pm. At 2:16pm i received confirm that it would be ready. At 2:20 I received a phone call that they were out of an item so I substituted and told the person I was on my way. I drive over 30 mins to this place, give the young lady my name and they don't have my order. I told her they had just called me and asked me about a substitution. Kenyotta proceeds to yell my entire government name from in the kitchen and says, oh yes, it was about the potato salad, we don't have any which I said was fine, and then she proceeds to tell me that they didn't have another item that I ordered and if I wanted to substitute, I agreed and told her I wanted rice/gravy. She then quietly tells the gentleman working the register to cancel my order and refund my money since I didn't want anything!! So now I am totally confused. She proceeds to come out from the back and address everyone but me and tell them their order is coming up, so now I am baffled!! So I ask the young lady at the counter what was going on and her exact words were "I have no idea what she is doing". So my friend who already received her food after a ton of confusion with her order says to me she isn't coming back anymore, "how is she gonna cancel your order"??....This next part blew my mind...she yells all the way from the kitchen into the crowded restaurant and says: "Because of what the person you are with just said, YOU AINT GETTING ANY FOOD" then proceeds to "give me the hand" like " TYPICAL black women" do, roll her eyes and walked away. How do you cancel someone's order because of what someone else says??? That is the most asinine thing I have ever heard of!! All I wanted to do was have a soul food dinner that I did not have to cook and I had heard good things about this place. I walked out of her restaurant with no food and in shock!! Kenyotta's conduct and actions were disgraceful!! She is a HORRIBLE business owner, who is disrespectful and is not dignified. It is now more than ever that we need to support black owned businesses but it is people like her that make it very hard to do so. I will continue to do so, but I will never step foot in her place of...
Read moreWe visited this establishment last Friday (7/26). Upon entering we were given menus by a cashier and was told we can sit and then come back to the register to order. I ordered first,a vegetable plate. My cousin ordered, then our driver and his wife. Driver & wife got their order first, then my cousin. My cousin said her order was wrong, that she ordered 1 pork chop with 3 wings dinner. She went to the counter to let them know. After one or two minutes we all got up and went to the counter to witness the owner telling my cousin if you want the 3 wings it will be 5 dollars. My cousin said just take 1 of the pork chops back and give me 3 wings. The owner said no, that's not what you ordered, this is your receipt and what you ordered. I still hadn't got my vegetable plate. She then brushed my cousin off and turned to me. I said I ordered a vegetable plate ( I was still in disbelief about what was going on with my cousin and why she was brushed off). She gave me my bag along with here ya go. My cousin said I'll just get my money back. THE OWNER SAID,OH NO, YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR AND LEAVE. I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR YOU TODAY LADY!!! YOU CAN GET THIS AND GO!! Our driver asked her what is your name she said Ken. How can someone be so rude & disrespectful to customers. We are the ones who give you a paycheck. My Mac and cheese was dry, collards sugary. My cousin couldn't eat the chops, too tuff. Same with the driver and his wife. Mac and cheese dry, chops tuff. Even if the disrespect hadn't happened the food was terrible. Maybe because close to closing, but no one deserves disrespect. A HUMBLE LEGENDARY GOSPEL SINGER BY THE NAME OF MS. DEBRA SNIPES was the customer. We were vacationing for a spiritual conference and on our first night it was terrible. But to God be all the glory!!!! Because the 3 days we had left was awesome. First time at this restaurant and the last... Reading your comment to my post. REALLY!!!! You and your staff and customers heard you say she could pay for three wings. You NEVER TRIED TO RESOLVE THE SITUATION!!! SO STOP LYING hun. AND SHE NOR ANY OF US WERE RUDE TO YOU OR YOUR WORKERS. I even asked for my vegetable plate during the miss of it all. So, please don't try to insult my illegance, nor my cousin's, because we and she DID NOT insult yours. YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS IRATE. LYING SAD, JUST SAD. You did not offer to give her wings, you offered to charge her, instead of swapping. And there was no line, only one...
Read moreWhat should have been a simple family meal became a very disappointing and unnecessary situation. We were first time customers. This establishment has poor customer service. They need a front line manager or someone who is familiar with handle customer interactions. Know that there is no signage on their website or door that states “cash only” establishment.
My family experienced an unpleasant experience with this restaurant. After leaving FMBC church, I stumbled onto this place because my daughter wanted Soul Food. Although I don’t live on this side of town, I chose this place for her because it was closer to our church. We learned when we arrived to the place that it was cash only by the rude large guy with a tight white shirt on at register near the front door. Then a female staff member said “ we are cash only and there is an ATM there”. We had only $65 in cash, so my husband went out to use an ATM affiliated with our bank to avoid potential fraud and additional fees. After our children placed their orders, when reviewing my son’s receipt, I noticed an up-charge. He did not know why but said “they didn’t have french fries”. I stood in line and politely asked about it without being rude or emotional. I was told by the male cashier at the register that even though french fries were unavailable, the up-charge was applied for the selection of the same item. I said “ but you did not have fries available, what do you do in that case”. I then asked if collard greens could be substituted instead of a second mac and cheese, and the staff member at the register agreed, relaying the change to the kitchen. He provided me a refund. At that point, a female staff member told me, “It’s okay ma’am,” as if I were the problem for inquiring. I proceeded to order. Then, the male cashier unexpectedly said “ I had jumped in front of another customer”. I explained that I had only approached the register after being called over by you and was simply clarifying the charge given on my son’s order. Shortly after, the same female staff member implied to others who were in the restaurant that I was being rude. I went to my table and did not order anything. I was awaiting for my children’s food. The female staff member suddenly announced to the room, “Y’all pray for me,” canceled my children’s meals after they waited and paid for the meal. She proceeded to refund me for their orders. As if she was refusing to serve is. This was a...
